Damned if you do and damned if you don't seems to be the choice. I am personally in the camp of carrying on to achieve and build an earlier immune system in most. This on the basis that elongation of outbreak may or may not be effective overall. The genie is now out of the bottle so it is another illness that we will need to be wary of in the future. I think i will start the flu vaccine now next winter.
Cant remember where I was some random place when I worked in Dorset back a while. Walked into this pub and said " can you put the game on please boss if thats cool?" his response was " no sorry were showing the rugby league" **** that!
Took me 30 to get through to sky to cancel sky sports subscription this afternoon. Worth it though, saves £20 a month when all there is to watch is Bothams Ashes, old re-runs of Phil the power Taylor or live llama racing.
Ha. Shame on you sir. Botham’s knock at Headingley was one of the great sporting events of the last century. Llama racing has the potential to top the lot though.
The over-arching issue with this entire Coronavirus/Covid-19 issue is: 'When will there be an end to this?'. Reports from China are that new infections for Chinese people are now less than infections from foreign people, but is this wholly because of the restrictions placed on Chinese people, so the instances of people infecting others is reduced, simply because no-one now comes into contact with other people? If people who become infected eventually recover, then the virus will eventually disappear, but this also requires draconian measures to avoid/prohibit any cross-infections. This is reminiscent of (my understanding of) the Plague, and the village of Eyam in Derbyshire. The villagers were infected by a chest of clothes that was sent to Eyam, from London, and the village 'self-isolated', with no-one entering or leaving Eyam, and any trade consisted of outsiders leaving food and other goods at the edge of the village, paid for by coins left in basins of vinegar, to reduce the chances of contaminated coins spreading the Plague to anyone outside the village. Countries, within Europe, and (eg) USA, are now closing their borders to anyone who is not a native of that country. Italy, and now Spain, are in 'lockdown', preventing movement of people within the country, never mind between countries. Unless/until a vaccine is created, or some other form of immunity appears, this virus will exist, and will continue to affect/infect people. I dislike Boris intensely, but he is right in saying that families will lose loved ones, before this situation is brought under control/ends. On the plus side, if football, and other sporting activities, cease for a long time, SKY may go bankrupt, so there's always a silver lining.
Worth a listen. An explanation as to how the Chinese have brought the virus under relative control, but they don’t know if it will regroup when the lockdown is lifted.
