The FA, EFL and the PL really cant afford to abandon the season. Legal claims from missed promotions, loss of revenues, sponsorships etc etc etc and that would just be the clubs. There'd be legal claims from sponsors, TV companies,no doubt players and agents would be up in arms.

An abandoment would be a financial catastrophe

For a start, every club who has budgeted to go for promotion this season in all the leagues. They have to carefully plan and get the timing of when to spend and when to save on players. You think starting the league is fairest? Easiest option? Dream Land

What are you on about? I'm fully aware of what's going on, but this is a football forum discussing a football related topic. If bothers you then maybe don't come into this page?

Not really sure what you're problem is.

That completely ignores the fact that any sponsorship contract (or virtually any contract for that matter) will have force majeure clauses. Sponsors won’t be suing anyone over the lack of football being played due to a global pandemic.

That ignores the fact that the FA etc miss out on big money, that is used to run English football, cause sponsors are able to 'legally claim' money back or a reduced fee

If football can’t start again until Autumn or beyond, then from an income perspective, it’s as broad as it’s long. As the sponsorship revenue from the remainder of this season being lost unless the last quarter is completed, would be balanced out by the lack of revenue from the new season starting whilst the old one is still being played......

The only way the status quo can be retained is if the competitions are played out in some way before the end of June imo.

For ther record, I don't want us to be given the title, it will always be tainted if the season isn't completed.

Wow left it a few days before i came on here as i knew there would be a **** ton of cockwombles on here.
My particular faves are those on the faux wum, there are more important things at stake.........btw void the season. Dickheads, as usual only looking at it through their own misguided perspectives.

I am in a position where i am able to see two clubs accounts one in efl one at grass roots.
The efl club, should the season be voided may very well fold as they have ploughed a fortune in trying to gain promotion, if voided they WILL be seeking compensation

They have no choice, **** sake if its affecting virgin, its going to affect a lower club, stop looking at this **** through your snobby nosed prem glasses and realise there are teams below you all with employees and get a grip on whats going on.

None of this is simple and no one has any answers, all thoughts and prayers going out to those directly impacted by this virus, the football means nothing for now.

I'm just sitting quietly and waiting to see what happens, we can speculate all we want but it's not in our hands.

Ideally finish the season behind closed doors so that all the relegation, promotion and European spots are dealt with.

Gotta love the Man Utd fans at the moment, they're like a bunch of kids who have had too much sugar.

I think the 2 week postponement is designed to contain the spread within the football world as much as possible - likely to play out the rest of the games behind closed doors, what’s the issue with that?

The season won't resume in 2 weeks, it won't resume in 2 months.

Let’s be clear. Liverpoo will win the title, but CL, EL and Relegation need to be fairly finalised. The only way is to complete the remaining fixtures.

promotion from each league has financial repercussions along with the playoffs and that cash generation.
