Off Topic Coronavirus - 606 tales from the Inquiry

I was watching how things panned out in the UK, along with a lot of people abroad, thinking 'do you guys not watch the news?' Italy kept things open a while longer than they shoulld, and now have a terrible toll of dead. They were looking at Spain thinking 'why don't you act now' but the message from the Spanish government was two weeks ago 'we have some outbreaks, but it's all uder control'. Idiots. You can't control a virus that can be spred by someone who can go 14 days without showing symptoms, as we found out.

So now we have lock down. A week ago I noticed the queue in the supermarket had got a bit longer. Then on friday the government announced lockdown, with serious fines for breaking the rule. Mrs Shabby went to the supermarket on saturday lunchtime to get some milk, and it had been stripped, I went there on monday, and everything was bak to normal. Only 40 people allowed in at a time (any queue was outsie, evervone at least one metre from their neighbour), lots of people on the checkout so no queue at all) and a limit of 6 of any ítem to avoid the morons who think they need 6 thousand bog rolls a week.

Ypu can go out only for essentials (shopping, hospital and work) essential services like transport are down to the mínimum, and fines or prison for the idiots who go jogging or meet their mates in the park. No references to the liberties Johnson was talking about, but solidarity with the vulnerable who may get Covid-19 through the selfish actions of those who try to carry on as if nothing has happened and spread the virus. Mrs Shabby took some food to her mother yesterday and met two pólice checks asking why she was breaking curfew - the reason was completely accepted.

So now we're at home. No football to distract us- our lock down sequence coincided with the Southall scandal so I had a crazy seven days on the internet. We have a package of help for a lot of businesses - nearly every business has closed so unemployment is probably around 80%. The one group who got ignored was the self employed, who have the highest payment levels ine Europe, starting around 320 euros a month. They still have to pay that, but logically have no income to pay it.

Oh yeah. And every night everyone goes out on their balcony/garden to applaud the health workers, who are literally giving everything (including sadly their lives) to keep the rest of us as safe s posible. Though I am beginning to hear we have now reached toe point where there aren't enough ventilators, and the doctors are having to decide who to sabe and who to abandon.

Remember that time when losing at home to Middlesborough seemed lika a tragedy? ****. Seems like another life.

 

After advising the elderly and vulnerable to self isolate. I was horrified to find my aunt and uncle in Maze Hill (both over 8o years) had to go into the riots that are the supermarkets today, to get food. Completely negates the whole isolation thing. However, they told me that Sainsbury are planning to prioritise the elderly and vulnerable for home delivery services (which is apparetly choked as of now) so anyone with health issues should look into this and avoid these palces if there is an alternative.

 

With all the Restaurants closing either permanently or temporarily … how is @Royston Rejuvenated able to feed himself? … this must be a worry!

 

Resorted to a KFC last night.

THought I'd take advantage of the over-70's hour at Sainsburys. They checked the oldies to begin with, but when I got to the checkout both shoppers in front of me were quite young, and one had a 16-pack of loo rolls, for which I was too late, so unable to get any for the family friend with 3 kids who can't get any. This degree of selfishness reflects badly on the country, and those who are stockpiling their garages and buying extra freezers should be ashamed of themselves.

 

Covid-19 is a virus … not a bacteria … soap and water is as effective

 

Fiendishly cunning device by the virus. Preservation of the species I suppose. It makes the host (you or me) cough like billy-oh, thus providing fertile breeding ground on a new host for it's brothers and sisters.

 

Surprising how few people know that. Soap and hot water only in this house.

Sainsburys first, Lidl later was easier and had more stuff.

 

I prefer Lidl to Aldi

 

I read the EFL has ring fenced £50 million to help struggling Championship Clubs.

Well that takes care of us but I expect several of the other 23 will need a bit of help as well...

 

The EFL would be very unwise to give Charlton money under the current set up

People's recent shopping habits are complete c***s. Plus they're super lazy.

This morning I got out the flour and eggs (next door has six chickens and they gave me some of the eggs). Made my own spaghetti, using a recipe I found online. Soo easy, and it made about 15 portions, so stuck them in the freezer.

It's lazy quick shopping. Supermarkets should be giving out basic ingredients and telling those that can, find recepies online to make things like bread, dough, pasta, etc, cakes, sauces and save all the dried stuff and ready meals to vulnerable people.

Plus plus, it's fun thing to do as a family when your on lockdown / isolation.

 

Neighbour told me that we probably need to put more security on the allotment as the residents have noticed that people have been stealing their fresh produce.

I moved the potato planters into my garden, so no-one steals them.

 

Zero prospect’ of London lockdown
There is "zero prospect of any restrictions being placed on travelling in and out of London”, the UK government has said.

A spokesperson said there were also “no plans to use military personnel for public order during the coronavirus pandemic”.

Asked to comment on the suggestion only one person would be allowed to leave a house at a time, Downing Street said this was "not true”, according to BBC political correspondent Chris Mason.

It comes after speculation London could face a lockdown by the weekend.
