Yes Egger in Hexham. I used to deal with the firm in a former job.

My objection is not really the lack of bog roll on the shelves, there are alternatives as others have posted. My objection is the sector of society that insists on acting like utter selfish ****s to the complete exclusion of everyone else, the same group of people that no doubt moan on about how public services and shops don't react to their every whim when they are in need of something. Those people are the most appalling aspect of this whole outbreak.

Remember the companies that have looked after their workers, and those who haven't profiteered, and remember the ones that have asked them to have 8 weeks unpaid leave while they sit on their private island and the ones that have charged £20 for children's medicine.

Businesses only exist because people use them...the choice of who to use is yours

Nobody will care about that when this is all over. They will go on google, look for the lowest price, and that will be that.

I know of several who have had symptoms and been denied a test. This is changing now as public anger has demanded it. My worry for the UK, and family there, is that the current government and this situation seems to react to public anger rather than having the policy in place prior.

I agree that some are selfish ****ers. Having lived in several countries over the years, the UK is getting worse and its not generational, the pictures of queues show a range of ages.

Just a reminder that those posting overtly political posts in favour of one party or another, will be removed from this thread.

Exactly Chazz, they have to do what’s best for them. People either gotta pay the going rate or go without.

Not without causing fatbergs apparently. Kitchen roll doesn't biodegrade was quick as bog roll according to a letter sent by my water company.

At the start of day 4 out of 80 of isolation.

Today we enter the hornets nest that is our local hospital.
For all of you worried about work, money or food in your cupboards, let me tell you that your health and your families health supersedes everything. The Coronavirus emergency has become a good diversion from our troubles.

Yesterday we ventured out in our car to the New Forest. We drove past our children’s homes and sat in our car with the windows down whilst they stood on their doorsteps and chatted to us. A walk down a deserted track and back gave us 20minutes of exercise in the fresh air. No direct contact with anyone. We emptied the shopping bags that have been left for 24hrs hanging outside. Opened our post and washed our hands. Our family added via WhatsApp to the list of questions we will ask the consultant today. I did some work and listened to a webinar for an hour. The news dominates our tv viewing. We are bit part players in a disaster movie. Going to bed was the total opposite of Christmas Eve, I didn’t want to have to wake up to today.

But today is here, the dishwasher needed topping up with salt, a bit of ironing needed to be done and the washing put on the line. A dog that we have never seen before was rooting about in our garden. It’s all surreal.

A bit of normality in what would have been an abnormal day anyway.

I’m posting this because I have a need to tell our story. It’s a personal view of a hard time and I know many on here have already got the tee shirt and have been down the same pathway as we are starting on.

It feels selfish, attention seeking and I have written this around twenty times, deleting, leaving and then coming back. I don’t want sympathy or really any responses. I just needed to say something to someone and if you are reading this that someone is you, thanks.

I do not envy your plight.

This is going to hit the older generations very hard psychologically.

I dread trying to stick to a 14 day isolation, I couldn’t bare the thought of 12 weeks or more.

Here is a great place to talk/share/rant etc
(as long as you expect friendly abuse too of course, but you know that!)
It is important to have somewhere to come for that, and if you want to share your story then share away as far as I'm concerned

Now get that dog stranger chased off!
