Government announcing that cafes, pubs, restaurants and gyms will close after tonight.

    I suppose it was coming!

Well we were all advised not to use pubs clubs bars social gathering.
Quite a few people took no notice and ignored his requests, but the pm has announced all closures from tonight
Now what’s happening on social media pubs are inviting people to have a party on the last night before enforced closure.
    Are these people for real?
Ignore a request to close they should be put out of business
If there is no virus at the moment in the area there will certainly try to attract one
As you know I’m a big socialiser and quite partial to a drink or two
Nevertheless I have obeyed what the pm has advised and self isolated.
I still have my daily walk.
Stay safe all remember we have some members of the public who

    COULDNT GIVE A ****

Well said Vince, it's time to Batton down the hatches, our little village shop are struggling to get bread and they didn't have an alcohol delivery today as alcohol is not classed as essential.
brings it home how serious this has become.

Think Boris has acted too late personally. Asking clearly isn’t enough for these selfish w@nkers so he’s finally had to tell them.
You just know tonight will be the p!ss up of all p!ss ups with crowds of people having one last session spreading who knows what to who knows how many.
Pity it wasn’t a ruse and every f@cker who goes out tonight gets barricaded in for the duration!
    W@nkers!

    This is ****ing mental.

I’m convinced there’s more to this virus than they are telling us. If there is it’s an utter shambles that folk are being allowed to work, public transport, even walk around.

They are closing the country down in stages. It’s like we are living in a **** film.

Strong measures taken tonight. We're in this for a lot long than a few months in my opinion. The 12 weeks suggestion feels like the hopeful view right now.

Absolutely no chance of 12 weeks mate. Half the shops in Newcastle are closed already. Many were already struggling.

12 weeks is no chance and it’s going to be brutal just trying to get back to normality after. Things won’t ever be exactly the same.

I think the government is being fairly sensible in their announcements, by dripfeeding the changes to us. Drastic changes would have messed people up too much and potentially caused riots.

I think the thing people are not actually getting into their heads is that at his moment, there is no vaccine. The news is looking to China as if they've solved the issue, but I still see 1 billion people vulnerable to it unless they isolate everyone coming into the country. They've still got an issue that is going to affect them for a long time to come.

As for the government measures, I was quite impressed with what I heard. The government covering 80% wages instead of companies laying people off is superb. Probably means I'm working until I'm 75 to pay it off mind, but it's a good move.

    I’m inclined to agree.

For all that they were slow to react, I think the last few days they’ve stepped up and got **** done, but is it enough? Is doing it in stages encouraging spread?

I don’t believe for a second China saying not new cases’, I’m just not having it.

Lockdown seems the only option, even if it’s while they try and find a better way. I’m in contact with easily 500 folk a day just in passing. Times each of them by their number, it’s crazy, it’s unknown, and it’s something I never considered I’d be a part of.

I’m the most laid back, stable kinda fella you could imagine, but **** me its got my mind blown now.

It's an impossible call to make and I wouldn't like to be in their shoes - they've got to weigh up those extra days of the virus spreading versus potential for riots, unrest and the virus spreading, versus massive economic downfall and people dying from the consequences of that. They've literally got lives in their hands and each scenario is a loss.

The only part of it which I think they've been a bit slow on is the testing. We're officially on about 4,000 cases but we're more likely to be closer to 40,000, but people with milder symptoms and self isolating are not being tested.

It seems China has stopped the spread of the Coronvirus by telling several billion people to stay indoors or they would get shot/imprisoned ?
