Yes that is a worry, some expert said without a package we’ll lose 30% of the EFL teams. I can see it becoming a three league contest, PL, Championship and just Div 1 but... I think without this football here was heading that way. This might make teams and the PL and EFL take action when it all blows over and start putting limits on wages and fees for agents
It's the distance from here to there that is the problem. If it is too long it wont just be league 2 that disappears.
And yet concert venues continue as normal, with no crowd restrictions! Ridiculous, isn't it? Everything else is shutting down in the interests of health & safety, only to be done by these money-grabbers, & the thick (and dangerous) pillocks that will attend. Perhaps martial law is not a bad thing in the present circumstance. If ever there was a true national emergency, this is it!
Isn't that what FFP was supposed to achieve? But I guess we'll never know, as so many clubs have slipped though the net due to the EFL being choosy as to who they investigate.
Think they maybe closing them all soon, I've got tickets for 2 gigs later in the year, had emails the last few days to say they're postponed and will hopefully be arranged. I've a festival booked for end of May and Pearl Jam in July, heard nothing from either of those yet though. Edit to say, just learnt festival in May is off.
And yet both Houses still sit in Westminster! And it's full of the most vulnerable fatality categories. One can only hope that their flouting of their own advice becomes a graphic endorsement of their social distancing position - i.e. most of them will be stiff before the year is out!
Championship players' wages 'could be capped at £6,000 a week due to concerns over coronavirus impact' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8136297/Championship-players-wages-capped-6-000-week-concerns-coronavirus-impact.html
with Grassroots and lower leagues being abandoned for this season, the FA have set a dangerous precedent that I worry will impact us
Agreed. This action also makes me wonder what the relationship is between the EFL & the FA. Who would make such a decision for us. I don't know the relationship, but I couldn't see the FA bossing the PL, but I could see them having a go at the EFL. Interesting, and worrying.
Was first thing that crossed my mind too when I saw the statement. I suppose only thing is there’s relatively small amounts of cash involved in non league I’m imagining so not such a disaster to miss out on promotion unlike us. If our season was scrapped I’d imagine consequences For Leeds would be catastrophic. I’d imagine Philips would have to be sold immediately to make any attempt at balancing books.
Exactly. I hinted at that the other day that knock on effect from top down will be catastrophic. How ironic, were 20 years trying to get back to the top flight and the big money. We eventually get there hopefully and all the effing money disappears
So ff#&= You Gold and Sully, Where is our money? It’s all lies lies lies, It’s all lies lies lies!!! West Ham fans at Liverpool last month. It was a catchy tune, so I joined in!
So so many hurdles to overcome before football can start again unfortunately. We don't know how many players are going to catch this virus. Could have a huge impact on when it can start again. Nobody knows how long after recovery you'd be able to train etc etc. Watched a Russian game earlier Zhorino v Bobruisk - was a really bad game (non league standard) but best game I've seen in 3 weeks. Another one just started so I'll watch that too
Looking forward to it. Energetik beat BATE Borisov in the opener last week. Ruh Brest with a solid away win at Dinamo Minsk. Going for another home win.
