'Many social media users told how they continue to commute because they have a job that doesn't allow them to work from home or they feared financial hardship during the pandemic.

Others said their employers expected them in the office as usual and they had no choice.

Trains and buses are still running so that key workers - including NHS staff and people involved in food distribution - can get to and from their place of business.

But key workers have told how they are "terrified" of using public transport with so many others.

A Twitter user who identified themselves as a key worker shared a photo of a busy Piccadilly Line train, writing: "TFL has reduced the frequency of London Underground trains, which are now busier than they should be.

"Not much social distancing on the Piccadilly Line this morning."

Another person wrote: "We need to lock the city down! My partner and I are key workers, and terrified of travelling to/from work, the public aren't listening, non-essential workers still using public transport.

"The tubes are still packed!!! How can key workers stay safe???"

Curfew. No one allowed on the streets, and no vehicles on the roads except for delivery workers, police/first responders, medical vehicles, key workers, between the hours of say 10am to 5pm, then 7pm to 7am the next morning. Very difficult to police with a lack of coppers. Maybe the army would have to patrol and block main artery roads. In a police state far easier to achieve. In modern Britain and without adequate resources maybe impossible.

Some were, some weren't, same issue as people using the tubes, the advice is just not being followed and there's too many inconsiderate arseholes out there.

Where I am now, over 65's not allowed out full stop. Curfew from 5pm till 5am. All public transport stopped and only key workers on the streets. But there's thousands of them all trying to get to where they need to be by taxi or sharing a car therefore potentially spreading the virus. Just so many exemptions / loop holes.

Did anyone see this? Ridiculous !!

RELIGIOUS GROUP CLAIMING TO BE IMMUNE TO CORONAVIRUS HOLDING CONFERENCE AT DRIFFIELD'S BELL HOTEL

The Bell Hotel in Driffield has said it is taking necessary precautions and adhering to Government hospitality guidance whilst hosting a conference full of followers of a spiritual group who believe they are immune to the coronavirus.

The Market Place hotel is housing the 11-day conference by spiritual group Divine Pineal Gland Activations in the Old Town Hall.

The group has reportedly been ignoring social distancing advice issued by Government.

According to The Sun, the 40-strong group, who hail from all over the world, is led by Suzanna Emmanuel, whose followers believe is the embodiment of Jesus Christ and that God has made them immune from the killer virus.

A spokesperson from Best Western was unable to comment on individual hotels, but stated that all hotels in its group are following the UK government guidance.

"We are not in a position to comment specifically, but as a group, all our hotels are following UK Government advice and we have been sharing this by way of daily updates for them all," said the spokesperson.

"We are also encouraging them all to ensure guests are observing social distancing rules. They are all independently owned and managed and they are under extreme pressures at the moment, like all businesses are.

"The hotels are not currently mandated to be closed, but all restaurants, bars, gyms and spas are now closed as per Government advice."
