Well I just had to cancel my wedding for the second time (we were going to do a rush job tomorrow with only two attendees), but it’s not about us. It’s about the wider good and the right thing to do. I’m just going to give my not-quite-wife a big hug and try to keep safe. You guys please all do the same x

If for no other reason than to regain some appetite. I'm a stress-faster, and from previous experience I have about a 20 lb cushion before I reach the threshold where my doctor starts yelling at me to eat ice cream for breakfast. But it was 25 lbs as of last week, heh.

    SING AWAY FOLKS..XX

At 1st I was afraid, I was petrified,
There was no loo roll down at Aldi and I nearly cried.
Oh I spent so many nights just thinking how you did me wrong,
    I used to wipe,
And now I’m forced to just drip dry !

    No anti-bac !
    No bloody soap,
and if you think you’re buying pasta well you’ve got no bloody hope !
I would have bought that box of eggs, I would have rationed out my bread,
If I’d have known for just one second everyone would lose their head !

Go on now go, walk out the door !
    All you bloody stockpilers,
You are not welcome any more !
Weren’t you the ones who just bought all the sodding beans ?
    You selfish gits !
I hope you spill them down your jeans !

Oh no not I, I won’t panic buy!
Oh as long as I have alcohol, I know I’ll stay alive,
Though I can’t buy my usual cheese,
This will not bring me to my knees
And I’ll survive, I will survive, hey, hey !

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart,
There was just apples and 1 carrot in my shopping cart,
And I spent hours walking round just feeling sorry for myself,
The empty store, with boxes strewn across the floor

And you’ll see me, somebody who,
Cannot buy anything she came for, and it’s all down to fecking you
And frickin Reg from down the road is such a selfish blimmin git
Because he stockpiled all the loo roll so nobody else can have a s@*t !

    (x2)
Go on now go, walk out the door !
    All you bloody stockpilers,
You are not welcome any more!
Weren’t you ones who just bought all the sodding cakes
    Can’t you make a crumble,
Do you people not know how to bake ?

    Oh no not I, I won’t panic buy !
Oh as long as I have alcohol, I know I’ll stay alive,
Though I can’t buy my usual cheese
This will not bring me to my knees
    And I’ll survive, I will survive !

Unfortunately food has to be made available, otherwise everyone will be out on the streets rioting. I appreciate and fully understand your concerns as you will be surrounded by and in close proximity to the public, so you are at risk.
I don’t want to have to continue working simply because, as I mentioned earlier, my wife has been instructed to self isolate for 12 weeks and my continuing to go to work puts me at greater risk of contracting the virus, because the personal hygiene of many where I work is dreadful, and passing it on to her.
What really needs to happen is that the public have to start acting like decent people and shop sensibly.
Johnson, earlier, said it was okay for families that live together to exercise together.
This is sending out the wrong message, as those same people will think that it is also okay to shop as a family, and add to the unnecessary crowds in the supermarket.
The rule has to be, one person per trolley/basket. See if the higher ups will sanction that at the supermarket and keep the security guard on the door to enforce it, as much as is possible. Those that don’t comply don’t go in. End of.
We, as a nation, have to get used to doing things solo (I reckon there are many already doing that in the bedroom <laugh><laugh>) so stretching that to food shopping should be straightforward.

    I feel for you.

As I said before, this is going to be a great story to tell your grandkids about when Nana and Grandad got married.

Another complication is people shopping for those high-risk ones who are in the 12-week isolation. We are setting up a helpers network in my village and I can see a situation where someone is shopping for 2 or 3 neighbours and may well violate the “3 of one item only” rule.

Was discussing this with a friend: we're all going to be the most insufferable old people. You kids don't know how good you have it! Have we told you about the 2008 crash (yes, Nana, about a million times)? And then ten years later the virus hit! (yes, Grandad, we know all about the virus, but what that has to do with eating these parsnips remains unclear).

We are in similar situation (except without the mother giving a lift).

Midwife appointment this week, scan next week.... our understanding is that these are both still classed as medical appointments and will still go ahead as planned.

The only thing I can see different in your situation is if her Mum is asked to wait outside the hospital, but your partner's scan should still go ahead.

Yeah, I'd say it was something that is a pretty essential medical appointment.

Hope all goes well for you both :emoticon-0148-yes:

Shops selling food are an essential service.....not every one has been able to stock up. I don't think any country has shut food outlets.

The big question is do these new measures mean the DFS sale is finally over?

Presumably petrol stations will still be open (even if only for fuel) because a private car is now suddenly the safest way to travel if you really have to.
