I received this from our managers today, so looks like I'll be out-and-about... Help us keep the nation’s mobile networks running during the coronavirus outbreak ________________________________________ MBNL manages the telecommunications infrastructure of EE and Three, two of the UK’s leading mobile operators ________________________________________ In line with the Government’s advice regarding social distancing to combat the coronavirus outbreak, it is of paramount importance that people of all ages and from all walks of life have uninterrupted access to mobile connectivity for: • 999 emergency & medical services • Online learning amid potential school closures • Working from home & remote working • Staying in touch with family, friends, and the outside world How can you help? Now, more than ever, we need to work together with all our site providers in the national interest to ensure that the UK’s mobile networks can meet this unprecedented capacity demand. To that end, we need your help in making sure a contingency plan is in place that continues to facilitate site access to the telecommunications apparatus. This is vital in enabling us to rapidly carry out repairs to any service-affecting faults, as well as continuing our scheduled capacity upgrades which are crucial for overcoming the growing strain on the networks amid Government advice regarding self-isolation and social distancing. Engineers from our network partners must also be able to access sites quickly to carry out critical repairs that may be necessary to maintain access to the mobile networks for all users. Please be assured that we and our partners are taking stringent measures to ensure the health and safety of both your and our workforce as well as the public. As a result of the ongoing outbreak, it is expected many sites will have more staff working remotely. Please ensure you tell us of any changes or additions to your “call out” procedure, and also take any measures necessary to ensure that it can be used at all times. If you don’t have a procedure like this, we would like to request that you establish one and would be happy to support you in doing so. You can contact us by emailing [email protected] stating the premise name and postcode in the subject heading. The Telecommunications Code of Practice is available here which highlights how Operators and Landlords should work together. For latest Government updates regarding coronavirus, please check here. MBNL is working hard with EE, Three and our suppliers to safeguard the nation’s wellbeing and livelihoods. We will continue to monitor the latest Government advice and keep you informed. We appeal to you for your continued support to work with us to help everyone in this country to ride out this crisis. Thank you. ________________________________________ Our mailing address is: Sixth Floor, Thames Tower, Station Road, Reading, RG1 1LX
It’s gonna be very interesting as to how this will be enforced....Road Blocks ? Random Stops ?. I’ll wait for my eldest to give me some idea. This is getting very surreal now and wouldn’t be amiss in a movie
At least I can continue to go to and from work, whilst not interacting with anyone. It's impossible for me to work from home and I can work all day without getting anywhere near anyone.
Would your work be classed as ‘essential’, Col ? It all seems very fuzzy at the moment.......for example are Uber drivers classed as ‘essential’ ? If they aren’t there are a load of Aussie Paramedics, who we have a lot of in the LAS, who are gonna find it impossible to get to work
ubers have been made essential here staines not sure I would want to do it though all those coughing passengers well within any 2 m distance
I’ve concluded that my work - electrical installation - is essential, essential to the well being of my family. I can get in my van, drive to site and work isolated pretty much all day. I’m not going to sit around, blow the tiny pot of savings I’ve got, then wonder how the **** I’m going to pay my bills and feed my kids while the weirdest ****ing period of our lifetimes plays out in front of us, with the global economy inexplicably destroyed and an inevitable recession that will **** the vast majority of us like we can only imagine over the next months and years, because of a virus, similar to others we know and accept as part of life.
My company had two new members of staff join today. And in the next breath they are putting some colleagues on the 80% salary. It does make me wonder whether the government know a lot more than what they are saying. Our manufacturing site - in China - roughly 8 hours away from Wuhan are in production again........maybe someone does have a cure....
They don’t, and they’ll let me know that over the next few days tip toe phases, but right now, I don’t give a ****, I want to know what’s going on.
Hopefully one of the good things to come out of this will be that the skills and worth of common men and women, and their importance to society is truly recognised.......the cleaners, the bin men, the school TA’s, the shop workers......all far more important, imho, than the ****ing bankers and bosses.
We have a couple of Gtech vacuum cleaners at home, a hand held one and an upright one. They are very good. On our local news, Midlands Today, they were at the GTech factory in Worcester as they completed the testing of a ventilator which doesn’t even require electricity, going straight into production today. Brilliant. Dyson is doing the same but can’t go into production yet because it needs to fly parts in from overseas. That’s what happens when you decide to go offshore, eh Jimmy?
