One of my personal favourite guitar solos and as with Neil, Bob is all about the feel, probably not everybody's cup of tea but this solo just sears through your ears... starts from 1:50 to 2:20..
I love the guitar work throughout this classic album, with unusually for New Wave/Post Punk, jazzy and melodic interplay between both leads Verlaine and Lloyd and taking turns with the solos...
Another unbelievably tight band forged from the same London Pub Rock scene as the Feelgoods... This is great....
Just come across this on FB. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you opened the door and could hear everyone clapping and cheering streets apart ❤️ Remember Ladies and Gents, on Thursday 26th March at 8pm can you all either stand on your doorsteps or open a window and clap and cheer as loudly as you can for all the frontline workers - NHS staff, firemen, police, ambulance service, carers, food and medicine delivery drivers, shop workers and anyone else on the frontline, risking their own lives to makes yours better. Let's try and get this around the country . Copy and paste and keep it moving to as many as we can ❤️❤️❤️ And to get everyone in the right mood, here’s some Bob Marley, played by just about everyone in the world:
Given I'm working for home, I just bought another album to listen to while procrastinating working very hard I'll be your girl by the Decemberists. I really love this song, which is the opening track of the album (and perhaps the one that convinced me to buy it in the end) [video] Also, in the same album there is a song that's very applicable for now: [video]
Sorry to do this to you but if anyone can actually listen to this all the way through you are a better person than me!
This is the song that introduced me to The Decemberists and the lyrics just drew me in (it's the ghost of a dead Civil War Yankee soldier speaking to his beloved at home), especially the last line...
Love Steely Dan too of course, Pretzel Logic close followed by Can't Buy a Thrill my favourite albums but they are all great..
Going to "rectify" that absence of Frank Zappa from the other day: From Joe's Garage - Why Does It Hurt When I Pee: From Apostrophe - Don't Eat The Yellow Snow: And from The Mothers of Invention, We're Only In It For The Money - Are You Hung Up?:
It's a fine album indeed. Actually they haven't really made a bad one, Saints_Alive sparked my interest in them ages ago for which I'm very thankful. Also try their alter-egos Offa Rex. This track "To make You Stay" is best sampled on the LP where it comes after a storming almost heavy metal "Sheepcrook and Black Dog". A wonderful tribute to Lal Waterson it's author.
