Hopefully the free parking for NHS staff remains after all this and even more so those nursing students who have had tuition fees have them scrapped!

Aye, there was only us three and another couple at the bottom of the street joined in. I’ll make sure the rest know if there’s another one next Thursday. I only heard about it on the news today tbh.
We’re fine, thanks for asking. I played golf on Monday morning, hardly been out the house apart from a walk to the bottom of the road. The dene’s closed.
Lucianos seems a long time away.....
    Take care.

Was nice to see that tonight. My brother is a paramedic too so he'll appreciate it.

Finally turned a corner tonight, she's starting to recover. Her temperature has settled and she's stopped coughing.

Someone asked me for the symptoms so I thought I'd post them here in case anyone wants to cross reference:

On Thursday last week we got back from the lakes and she had been zoned out all the way home. When we got in I went and cut down a tree in our front garden because I'm a proper gadgy. When I came back in, she was asleep on the sofa at 4PM which is pretty strange for her. It wasn't just a nap, she woke up about 6...

She started coughing around half 6 and it didn't stop. As the night wore on she got a temperature. The cough was not phlegmy, it was dry, like you're coughing sand. I think the next day that temperature became a fever.

Both of us had the same thing which anyone who's had flu will know, the aching and tingling of your skin. She was much worse though, the fever had her in the spare room because she was so drenched in sweat every night (her choice not mine ). At times she said it felt like someone was sitting on her chest and she was panting by the time she got to the top of the stairs. I didn't get this bit and with the exception of a fever on sunday and a bit of Monday, I wasn't too bad, although I can still feel the aches.

Weirdly, she had a day (Sunday-Monday) where it seemed to get better and we thought it was done. We were very wrong.

On Tuesday it hit her again like a ton of bricks. Her temperature on her head and particularly her chest/back were as hot as I've ever felt on someone, but she felt freezing. It was a warm day yesterday and we even had the fire on at one point she was shivering so much. She couldn't stop coughing which was more concerning, in fact she was barely functional and needed to prop herself up everywhere. By yesterday we were worried enough that when I went to bed last night, I was prepared to call an ambulance if things got worse. We woke up this morning and she was panting after walking 5 metres to the toilet, and whether it's because she stood up too fast or what, she was like I say on the floor almost passed out.

I got her water and we got her into bed and rang 111. Just to reiterate they are mainly bothered about the respiratory element and as much as she was panting, it wasn't at the level that gave them immediate concern. That should give you some idea of the bar here.

I made her stay in bed all day and waited on her hand and foot while trying to work :D tonight we've watched a movie downstairs and although she's still a bit woozy, she is massively improved and her cough has died down, temperature is not extreme at all. I am hopeful that we are through the worst of it.

So if any of those symptoms ring a bell, hopefully it helps to know it's not the end of the world even if it sometimes feels like you're not getting better.

    Her symptoms:

Dry cough, intermittent at first but becoming regular (at it's peak yesterday once every minute or so, unable to take deep breaths without coughing)

Chest tightness and struggling to walk around without feeling dizzy and panting

Headache and muscle pain + tingling very badly (uncomfortable to be touched)

High temperature, particularly around the head and neck, generally the upper body front and back.

Fever, sweating in the night and during the day, and unable to regulate or get consistently warm or cool, always extremes.

Fatigue - barely able to get up at times

Constant dehydration, which we both have had.

Like Somb, I was one of the "it's just the flu" lot (opinion coloured by me & bairn going to Mexico to visit a mate in 2009 during the swine flu epidemic, with the mad neighbours on one side telling me I shouldn't go, when in reality the disease was much less harmful than a normal flu).

Well I got it very, very wrong this time.

A lass I shagged a few times some years back is now living in Bergamo (the worst affected part of Italy) so I thought I should show my face and text her - what she wrote back is horrific, ambulance sirens all the time, funeral directors with not enough coffins available for all the dead, etc. She's a social worker helping vulnerable old people so not on the front line, but sees a lot about how the Italian health system is trying to cope.

So these are dark days, and the less idiocy there is and the more cooperation in trying to stay out of each other's way, the better.

Just a thought. As parliament is closed , can we assume that we’re only paying the MPs 80% of their £80000 pay ? Or should I guess that they’re all apparently doing constituency work from home

No council tax reduction for reduced services by the looks.
I feel for ones not getting paid atm.
    My work mainly closed yesterday,
Summer shutdown has been brought forward,

The cheering on doorsteps for NHS was quite surreal.
I had my air horn out the window (oooer mrs) :)

The mrs was at work till 8pm and said most of the patients went outside clapping and cheering.

The company my youngest daughter works for although none essential have carried on open.

    Shame on them
