Well, Boris & Co have had a stab at helping the self employed. I confess to having a vested interest being self employed and my youngest being self employed as well.

It seems to be a fair stab at addressing the problem. There are gaps but that was almost guaranteed due to how variable the group is that he’s trying to help. I hope they look and listen to relevant experts in addressing any gaps and holes but credit where credit is due and Parliament is earning it’s corn in contrast to the Brexit farce.

I'm self employed (since 83) and I employ others, all on full wages I may add
hoping to get 80% back with the government help
I pay only small amount of NI but I have to match all of my employees NI contributions
which means I'm paying 10 times as much as anyone else and get nothing in return
this will help me a lot

I've got to say that I think they have done really well considering the circumstances. I know that they have taken a bit of time to work it out. The announcement yesterday was basically because they realised they had left the self employed in a hole the 1st time but overall I think Boris and co have really pulled their finger out and have shown they are decent in a crisis.
