On Day 1 of the suspension announcement I said it was, in my opinion, just an interim delay to allow people the chance to blow off steam and get used to the idea. Now it's been delayed again I'd put money on the season being voided. There'll be complaints but it's the 'elastoplast solution'. Any attempt to drag this season on through the summer, or into next season, will end up in a logistical and legal minefield. Yes Liverpool will win the league but many other issues would become contentious. Its sad but it's time to accept it's best just to rip the plaster off ...

... and, while we're at it, tell those idiots in Tokyo to blow the torch out and grow up.

He’s a disgrace mate. I used to work for VA and a lot of their retail staff in the North East were employed by me.

They are fantastic, they are still going to work, unpaid, and sitting with the shutters down trying to help people get sorted.

I take my hat off to them. In his defence he doesn’t own Virgin Atlantic (Delta Airlines do), but he could personally help millions if he wanted to.

He used to be a good man.

They won’t cancel the season Smug, they’d sooner cancel the next one to finish it than deal with the legal ramifications. This season will categorically be played out.

I thought that as well mate, but I've heard a lot of convincing arguments as to why it makes more sense to finish this season and scrap (or change the structure) of next season.

It would still take a lot of flexibility regarding contracts and transfers, but I suspect the legal minefield of voiding the season will be every bit as bad and seems to go against the wishes of the vast majority of league clubs.

Paolo Maldini and Paolo Dybala both tested positive for it in Italy. Dybala has said that he and his girlfriend have tested positive but "are in perfect health".

Add this to more than a dozen footballers in this country testing positive and it seems obvious to me that the virus is far more widely spread than we realise.

Plenty of those in fortunate positions to actually be tested are testing positive with very few symptoms. That would be good news in the sense that's it's perhaps less deadly than we thought, but also worse because it's much more contagious than we thought.

It's mainly effecting those with other underlying Heath issues

Plenty of recovery stories out there but for some reason our press are concentrating on the scare stories

Thousands are dying from a virus for which we have no cure, that's scary.

The people who recover are carriers.

Just because someone is pulled out of an earthquake, after a fortnight, it doesn't mean there wasn't an earthquake.

Because we should be scared Hank.

This thing spreads so fast that it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

How many kids in the world have underlying health issues such as Asthma, Diabetes without even going to the more serious issues such as cystic fybrosis. Sadly the young entitled brigade appear to see this as nothing but a inconvenience and a restriction of the civil liberties. All they are going to do is spread it further and faster.

When you go out be careful
I know people have to work

Trying to play out the rest of the season, even behind closed doors, is fraught with problems as long as the risk of infection persists.

If they try and one Liverpool player contracts the virus that means they'd all be at risk and would have to self isolate.

So the season would be suspended again until the players are deemed fit and virus free.

    It could become ridiculous.

Playing without spectators doesn't mean there's no risk to players, staff, stadium employees, etc.

Are we ever going to be corona free I thought the only reason footy was stopped so the Premiership & FA

Didn't want to over stretch the NHS isn't there a law they have to have so many ambulances at a match now

If all the players officials are tested negative they should least finish the season, then once the whole country been vaccinated & declared safe, spectators allowed back in

Regardless of what decisions are taken there are going to winners & losers. There are going to be repercussions regardless.

The best suggestion I have heard is that we scrap this season now and take whatever points you currently have into next season. That way all clubs are in the position they are now.
Unsure as to how clubs stand financially but from a football perspective I think that is the fairest way to deal with this.

Well bird flu took over 18 months to peter out,
Spanish flu interestingly was like a normal flu at first hitting the weak and low immune. After mutating it became more dangerous for those with high immune systems.

The problems at the time of ww1 were living conditions ie trenches and mass gathering of soldiers.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu

Lock down now is a way of halting the spread only and hoping for an antidote or the virus to run it's course, either way that could take over 12 months on past track records for antidotes/viruses.

So to test players then let them play, who's to say they won't catch it straight after testing ?
And what about teams depleted by players who test positive ?

By the time the effected players with the virus are fit that should easily fill the void till June

It's the mass football watching public.

Still reckon back up & running by June behind closed doors if ambulances can be provided for

Then hopefully August for the spectators be allowed back after mass testing
