You and me both, couldn’t be arsed with all the **** that gets slung around on both sides of the argument.
We must be missing it mate, these people must make such a difference by moaning about politians on the Internet.
Work's been an absolute ****ing nightmare this week and I can already feel my mental health deteriorating from staying inside. I've got myself a couple of tinnies for tonight to cheer me up
Indeed. Because in both China and S.Korea, they took steps extremely early on to limit the possible cases and deaths due to C-19, their new cases are falling fast. Last time I checked, China had no newly reported cases. The West had advanced knowledge of all this, but chose to partly ignore it, thinking that China could contain the outbreak themselves, while we curbed our expenses. The UK's late, but necessary shutting down of people's movements and interactions means that the numbers hitting the NHS will be greater in the short term than they would have otherwise been, but we have acted at last. The USA's attitude, approaching almost laissez faire, under Trump, due to his willingness to sacrifice people over their nation's economy, which is so heavily engaged in the private greed that they don't know what service to the ordinary people means anymore, means that C-19 may yet come back to the rest of the world. Currently, the USA's cases have overtaken China, with a fraction of China's population. Thanks Trump, for making that decision for us. You're a ****, and your greedy administration is staffed with ****s. You always were a ****. You will remain a ****. Hopefully, they'll lock you up, if somebody doesn't infect you. As for that ultra right wing idiot running Brazil...
Ah chin up mate, it will fly by soon all this home working. Drop me a pm if you need a chat anytime, I’ve worked from home for years so not so bad.
Asda had some bad press recently, for enforcing contract changes that left some staff worse off, and rightly so. But today they deserve applause for telling all their vulnerable staff, AND those who care for vulnerable people, to take 12 weeks fully paid leave. My company, on the other hand, had a meeting attended by the head of the depot, my line manager and the heads of admin and personnel, to try to pick holes in my request to be furloughed, deciding that they don’t think I should be, but conceding that they will continue to investigate my claims (that key workers CAN be furloughed) with personnel at head office. Seriously, one solitary person and the payments won’t even come out of their profits (which will probably be greater than ever before based on the record sales) and all they want to do is say NO. Small-minded in the extreme. The link to Asda doing kind things. https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/asda-give-vulnerable-staff-coronavirus-21766427
All very fine and dandy clapping the NHS employees, but how about a bit of extra cash for people who are struggling on salaries eroded by a decade of austerity. We've talked the talk on these folk, time to walk the walk?
China are still getting a small number Worldometer shows numbers but it depends when you look E.g. AM GMT shows China & USA Evening shows UK
Don't you know there are no magic money trees! You need to realise that it Is Tory fiscal policy over the last ten years that has provided the funding and enabled us to fight this virus.
Donald Trump still keeping us entertained with his stupidity. Last night he said that hospitals were exaggerating their need for ventilators...saying how could they need 30 or 40 thousand when they usually only have two. 24 Hrs later, he invokes an emergency bill to force General Motors to produce ventilators as they were time wasting with contract discussions. Trump needs to be told that the best way for him not to sound stupid is to shut the **** up. His advisors must all have ulcers by now as they try to get things done with a 'leader' who grasps nothing and is likely to say the opposite of what you are telling him.
Unfortunately, our government is just as stupid, and are still telling lies. They turned down the chance to join in the EU joint procurement scheme for ventilators because the Brexit hardliners said so. Then, when that threatened to provoke public outrage, they changed the story to “we weren’t asked in time”, which simply wasn’t true. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ilators-eu-scheme-communication-a9430571.html
No amount of money would have prepared the NHS for this....and there is no magic money tree...some will come from funds set aside for emergencies, but most will have to be found after the initial crisis passes. Probably most will have been borrowed. Austerity isn't behind us...it's waiting round the bend. Everything has to be paid for.

If we turn our gaze to the more distant future, the future which is unknown both to you and to us too, we can only tell you this: when all of this is over, the world won’t be the same. ----------------- Just had this conversation with my kids. I don't think they get it. How can they.
