    Titanic?

Why did she bother going back to save him if he was going to die anyway? A question that still haunts me to this day.

The idea that this ends and then we somehow all just go back to how it was a week or so back, is for the birds.

When people go back there’ll be huge restructuring within businesses as our consumer lead economy will have suffered massive damage as Job losses, debt run up yet further and savings spent will keep the recovery slow, and this will mean business has to adjust. I’m afraid many of the furloughed workers being ‘saved’ will prove to be temporary.

I've always been so in favour of liberty all my life, but I found as I got older that there is a good side to authoritarianism as long has it keeps the right side of humanity. I never ever dreamed I would see the day this country would be in a lock-down, let alone me actually agreeing to it! There are parts of it that intrigue my curiosity, and some of the psychological aspects of our own governing, and how the government worked towards us agreeing to be locked-down via propaganda in the sense of information TV. Afterall the police force in this country is only as good as the public allow it to be, just by shear numbers of population, if the people didn't want to be locked-down, there would be fook all the police could do about it, so it's sort of a willing authoritarian control, short of bringing the power of the army in of course.

    I've got no doubt .
Theres a hell of a lot of bricks and mortar businesses that ain't coming back .
That's a lot of lost tax revenues.
It's time for ****s like Amazon etc to be brought to book.
Anybody that thinks that we just go back to normal will be very disappointed.
I cant see how we can avoid tax rises to help pay for this

Maybe the next generation will have something to say about it. They're already quite forthright about the climate and global warming. I can see them looking at the ****e we've gone through and taking a more humanist approach to their future.

The NHS will be wrapped in cotton wool and gilded in gold plating after this. How many ppl will know someone that's lost their home or who are dependent on foodbanks? I think it might make a difference for a generation or two.... until it's so distant it's forgotten about and it's all about the ££££ again.

Think of the positives, no air travel = no pollution, hardly any cars on the road = even less pollution, we've given our planet, three weeks of fresh air, well apart from the cremations :emoticon-0127-lipss

I must say that it has been better adhered to than I thought !
It also goes to show that when faced with being faced with restrictions and a degree of patience we can do it .
I've actually been heartened by peoples willingness to queue outside supermarkets.

Generally being authoritarian you need the public on your side, because then the majority silence the minority dissenters. The only time that will change is if food became scarce then its every fooker for themsleves <laugh>

    Decent post Treb :emoticon-0148-yes:.
People fears are often dismissed out of hand.
Environmental issues are smacked down by big business and lobbyists that put money as their panthian !
I've watched a couple of programmes about the consequences of ignoring warnings .
One was of the dangers of melting permafrost.
Theres a lot of ancient bacteria locked within that may cause unknown health problems!
Once again these issues have been put to world governments and brushed aside .
Maybe we need to start listening ????

Well the Great British public will have to step up!!!
There is a shortage of 60,000 workers this year to pick fresh produce .
If ever there was a time to show our willingness it will be this summer

This year will be warmer than it would've been otherwise.

The fall in dust, sulphur dioxide and cloud generating contrails will have a bigger short term effects than the reduced CO2.
