The company I’m at has the ability to deal with this better than a lot will due to the kind of services and kind of clients we have but I’ve already put a load onto furlough. And we are already having conversations at a senior level about restructuring when this is over.

I’m doing everything I can to protect people’s wages and jobs but the reality of this situation is the health of businesses will come first and with the economic effects this country is going to feel, all businesses are going to go through changes whether they like it or not, it’s inevitable and will be necessary.

Going to be a hard couple of years for a lot of people!

(And this is without the total lockdown that a lot of people seem to be calling for)

I’m already getting seriously bored of being at home despite having work to do...

I can see why they think there will be lockdown fatigue. Not sure how people will be coping when it’s been a month and we are told is going to be even longer.

Anyone else noticed their levels of drinking increasing? <laugh>

I think a lot will depend on how long our memories are once this is all over and how willing we are to maintain the all in it together attitude once we realise that we have a part to play in paying for it too. I actually think most people will want to do the right thing and make sure we have the NHS how it should be rather than how it has been (in terms of equipment and funding - not the people). For a while there will be a lot less people in work and a lot of people to look after. I agree that the younger generation will want a say and will probably have a lot of wisdom to impart that we would have previously dismissed in our old age cynicism. Will we still be as keen on listening though when we realise it might mean paying much higher taxes for a while? I hope we are, but suspect a lot of people will push back from it when they realise it will mean less money in their pockets to help others.

Amend that to 5 years minimum .
I am surprised at how blaise people are about this .
I wouldn't be surprised to see 500,000 job losses in this

Apart from the drinking bit I relate to the rest. I've been home for 3 weeks now and today was the first day I felt really seriously bored. Not that the other days were fun, but today felt hard. I want to be outside and I want to be working.

Yeah today is the first day I’ve really noticed it. And we are potentially so early into the restricted movement phase of this thing! I’m normally all over the country for work so it’s very odd to not have anything in the diary that isn’t a conference call!

That’s because you’re constantly having to be out at work! It’s much easier to pour a glass of wine earlier in the day when you’re not going to be leaving the house!

    No bike lol.

I could go for walks but there are still scroats out and about walking the streets. They are only in pairs now, but often with a can in their hands and not giving a **** about keeping 2 metres distance. I just don't trust them yet. There are open spaces I could walk to, but I have to get there first, and that means walking past idiots like that.

I should have been at Donington Park this week working and then heading off to Aintree on Sunday night to start work for the Grand National. I spend most of my year travelling the country and living in a caravan for work on site. This is a massive shock to my system. I'm not complaining - it's the right thing to do - but it doesn't make it any easier.

Back when I was a weed smoker I wouldn’t have given two ****s about being stuck in the house. I’d have just been high as a kite working my way through every comedy film and new release I could find and binge watching crap TV programmes... would barely have noticed 3 or 4 weeks go by <laugh>

I can see why there are a lot of addicts relapsing at the moment!

Might have to get a couple of joints... not like being lazy is going to be a big disadvantage in life right now... :emoticon-0176-smoke
