https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52063085 I think if I was out of contract on 30th June, I wouldn't entertain any wage deferral, without some serious guarantees. If I played for our lot, and my contract was up, I wouldn't entertain a deferral at all.
Newcastle United have become the first Premier League club to cut their wage bill in response to the coronavirus crisis, with Tottenham Hotspur among those expected to follow.
I think most teams will have to do this if tv/sponsorship is frozen. Just hope they pay the normal staff with money they take of players. Don't know how the football league can survive this though.
Spurs 550 non-playing staff have been given a 20% pay cut. I'm sure the players will follow the lead of their Barcelona counterparts and step up to help out. Or mebbe not?
North Ferriby FC appeal. A Club Statement from Chairman, Les Hare. It’s a good job we’ve all got time on our hands because it’s a long one 1/2. #UTV https://t.co/JHhAvDB4ye
Would you pay this **** Cos I wouldn’t LET McLEAN HAVE HIS JOKE Everybody knows what James McClean is, everybody knows the type of people he regards as heroes, or martyrs. Yet seeing his photograph in a black balaclava, supposedly home-schooling his children with the caption: 'Today's lesson — history' made me laugh. It was a joke; a joke about his beliefs. Then again, I've never understood why clubs are fined when their fans sing 'F*** the IRA' at him either. The FA act as if it is a form of racist abuse. It isn't.
Bournemouth announce that Eddie Howe, Jason Tindall, ceo Neill Blake & tech dir Richard Hughes have "taken significant, voluntary pay cuts for entirety of this uncertain time". Club "advised a number of staff across all areas of the club that they will be temporarily furloughed".
Not sure if it's global thing, but the Swedish teams have introduced "couch tickets". Our season was supposed to start now, but since it's postponed some teams will struggle financially. So for some of the friendly games there's been, you've been able to buy couch tickets (since no crowd is allowed), "support your team from home" Even the smaller teams in the Swdish top flight have sold thousands of tickets. The main team in Gothenburg have sold more than 2000 season tickets in less than a week. One of the ice hockey teams beat their all time attendance figure, without anyone actually watching the game
Trouble is it will catch on and all games in the future will be played behind closed doors with no fans there at all.
Cardboard cutouts and expensive sound systems booming out crowd sounds, supplied by the TV companies, should make the players feel at home. maybe even inspire them if the audio technicians can read the script (Home fans louder than away fans). No waiting for the bus in pissing rain !
Am I the only one disgusted by the lack of reaction by our vastly overpaid players. I think I am done watching Premier League. I cannot support these greedy ******** any more.
Brighton CEO Paul Barber says along with manager Graham Potter & technical director Dan Ashworth they have voluntarily taken pay cut for 3 months to “ensure none of our core staff suffer a wage reduction during this uncertain period for our business”
