In a disaster, shooting, bombing etc names and ages are at sometime disclosed in the media. To my knowledge few have been named. Is there a reason for this?
Pretty insensitive but I suppose being practical in the circumstances ,a relative by marriage had an ambulance called to his house as he is suffering from the virus confirmed by the ambulance crew but not taken into hospital so how ill you have to be before you have to admitted I’d hate to think
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52114410 Don’t disagree with the principle - but they’ve already paid out the bankers’ bonuses .......
Throughout history regardless of it being war or pestilence banks have always made money and I expect this current situation that won't change . There are some that say the 1st World War could have ended earlier but whilst there was money to be made it didn't
Agreed - they will find a way to pay themselves ‘bonuses’. ‘Strange’ that the decision to get the Banks to preserve their Capital was after the bonuses had been paid ..... with the shareholders again the only ones to feel ‘pain’ ....
I'm sure personally there are maybe a few "decent " bankers out there but my overall opinion of them is that they're just leeches on society .
Having had dealings with both, I find that Building Society staff and Management are far better to deal with and have great empathy.
Well it's already happening in terms of making money out of the situation. The banks are offering payment holiday of up to 3 months at the moment. However it's my understanding that they are not extending the term by 3 months, just not taking payment for that time. They will however charge interest for those 3 months - meaning you now owe more and because you essentially have 3 months less to pay the remaining mortgage then your payments will go up on top. The banks will make a hell of a lot of money out of this - they're not there to help in any way.
Thats shocking, really disgusting behavior , it was us the tax payer that gave them our money so they could continue trading. I've changed my view, they're all leeches
It's not just banks though , hopefully their worlds will collapse https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52120578
Long story, just 2 hours ago placed order for delivery tomorrow with Iceland. Rejected my M&S MasterCard, then my wife’s, then my Natwest MasterCard, then my wife’s. In desperation / ‘bewilderment’ used my Natwest Debit Card - same result Then the trolley emptied, and the Delivery slot vanished .... Looked at my Banking App - the £83.99 was charged to my Debit Card....... and guess what, having finally spoken to M&S (took 58 mins to get through) and then NatWest, there are charges of £83.99 on each and every credit card. Spoke to the local Iceland - there’s no delivery down for us tomorrow ... They said ring customer services. Rang it - not taking calls....... So we’ve seemingly been charged £419.95 for nothing ......
Call your bank straight way as i'm sure you will , I'm sorry but that's the only advice i can give you
Spoken to the Bank - have to wait until Friday to speak to their Disputes Team: same for both Credit Cards....
Well at least you've managed to contact them to start the ball rolling , not much use though if you've gone into your overdraft + interest on your credit cards, but I would still would pursue Iceland if you can to raise a formal complaint. I know its trying times for all but no one can afford to lose that sort of money. Good luck
Thankfully, no issue with overdraft / interest. Never use my overdraft facility and always clear credit card balances in full by direct debit each month - I’m lucky in that respect, but someone else could be suffering great heartache and angst.
