from the athletic its real mate these have poured cold water on it for months Our policy has been to withhold fuel from the fire until substantive progress has been made and then to offer as much detail as possible. Are we at that stage? Well… almost.” “There is momentum behind it and a desire to get it done. It is close; close enough to accept as a realistic proposition, if not yet enough for the hashtag #cans to be trending on Twitter” “It has taken months for the PIF to commit but that commitment is now viewed as total, which partially explains the timing.“ “To the questions of why anybody would seek to make a multi-million-pound acquisition during a public health crisis when the markets are reeling, the answer is that this is not a short-term proposition.“ “They are not buying Newcastle to sell it but to invest and grow.“ “It is for 10 years’ time, not just now.” “There is cordiality on both sides of the negotiating table and mishaps are not anticipated, albeit with the obvious caveat about Ashley’s unpredictability.” “It is said that the price is now considerably less than the £340m first reported.“ “Ashley may now be more receptive to selling given the damage done to his firm’s share price (lowest in 10-years), as well as the harm he has suffered to his reputation over recent days.”
I think the takeover is going to happen, I've no real evidence apart from journo talk but this feels a hell of a lot different to the other takeover rumours, has felt authentic from day one. I regards to Fosse's post, I agree that the divide is now insane, if Newcastle join those ranks you'll have two clubs ran by oil rich nations. Even clubs owned by billionaires like Leicester will soon find it harder and harder to compete, even having £2 billion in your pocket isn't enough to compete year to year in the premier league now.
I was actually going to tag you in, I know Urdu has the same alphabet, wondered if you spoke some Arabic
Can read it....speak and understand bits n bobz here and there. Like you say, it’s very similar to Urdu.
Spurlock's post got me wondering. Question for you mate. What if they come in, change some part of your club name, or change your kit, or raise ticket prices. Would fans accept it?
Ashley changed the name of their stadium to the Sports Direct Arena and they still packed the place out. Mike Ashley could release a new strip made out of kiln-dried cat **** and the toon army would be queuing all round their city to get their hands on one.
Newcastle Arabia St Princes Park hmmm wouldn't go down well, but I suspect they would just build a new ground and call it wtf they like eventually ticket prices went dwn under ashley in conjunction with the product , so i dont see an increase being a problem. it would appear now that there is 100% a deal taking place, but theres no way of knowing whether its currently at the head of terms stage (early and unlikely) or as some reports claim simply waiting on prem to do checks and the deal being signed off... ie weeks away... either way i enjoy these sagas.
What about those black and white stripes? Imagine they changed it to all black with a big fck off sword across the chest.
¨ This is what I raised as a worry on the original post months ago. I don't particularly want us to be like City who are unrecognizable to what they used to be. The likeliest scenario is they'll keep the black and white strip, it's a unique look, it's marketable. I've said before they could market Newcastle internationally to be like an English Juventus. But I imagine a new emblem, a new name for the stadium, stuff like that are bound to happen.
