    No it wasn't.

They have been telling us this was coming, but that doesn't make it any less difficult to deal with.

    Oooh, harsh AHLL.
Joshing aside I'm sure we agree all our key workers (including the Civil Service) are doing the best they can <applause>

    Good news! :emoticon-0157-sun:

Wimbledon 2020 has been cancelled <ok>
I'm no fan of tennis in general, and I've never liked the upper crust Wimbo tournament.
It's a scandal they took this long to call it off.

Dorks of the Day ... 1st April

    Speeding drivers :emoticon-0172-mooni

Brainless W*nkers, who sling their cars recklessly around the roads just because the traffic is very light now.
I was almost hit by a car that sailed straight through a red light last week.

Were these people born stupid? Or do they practice.

You know things are bad when even the Mail are turning on the government.

Seems like the Twitter echo chamber was atually on the money, and it's the Tory cheer leaders who may be out of sync. After all when the press ask Michael Gove why the tests aren't being done, every night, and he can't answer, something is badly wrong.

Let's make a very important distinction here.

These newspapers are NOT attacking the Government because they have suddenly become Socialist mouthpieces.
They are not attacking the Government because that is their natural position (unlike the Mirror or the Guardian).
There is nothing party political about what they are saying.

They are attacking the Government because something very important is going wrong here.
Something that most other countries are getting on with much better than we are, even if their crisis has claimed more lives than ours so far.

Our NHS workers deserve to have everything they need in order to preserve their own lives while helping the sick.
    And that isn't happening.

We cannot change the past now, but the Government needs to use every resource it has in order to get testing and get adequate PPE to all front line workers.
We are getting tired of vague answers diluted by 'on-message' soundbites.
And tired of the snappy redecoration of lecterns.

Stop mucking about with slogans and get the job done.

That's why I put those two. The problems are real. The time for slogans is long gone. The NHS is a real credit to the UK and should be treated as such. We are now reading about retired doctors who volunteered to go back into the front line to help, and at least one has now lost their life. And at the same time nurses claim they are being gagged from talking about the lack of protective material. No health service in the world could face this challenge out of the blue. But there was a real window to get moving on this. Yet there is still a need to push the government to act. As you say @lardiman, a time now to act properly. And in the future to recognise the NHS for the resource it is and protect it.

Coronavirus preparations in the UK started in January - at a time when the vile Chinese Govt (you never hear Lefties criticising them ..) was suppressing information about their casualty rates.

Unfortunately the NHS has had to compete in a global marketplace for the Coronavirus test kits.

    @Ken Shabby

Found this gem in central London last night. The owner was delighted to see me spend £12 on chicken, chips, burger and drink etc.

Tories like me are still working by the way. It’s what we do. Paying the taxes that allow lefties like you to keep posting Bollox .

And the Daily Mail to keep posting bollox. And the Times. And the Telegraph. Are you advocating people should not observe lock down?

And what exactly is the connection between Dallas Chicken and Ribs being open, and a lack of basic apparatus for doctors and nurses. Or are they posting bollox too?

I thought fast food joints and burger bars were all ordered to be closed.
Or are some allowed to stay open to serve key workers only?

    Genuine question.
I'm taking this lockdown seriously, as are the vast majority of people.

Sad to see you making a public health crisis a political issue.
Your type lost - resoundingly - on 12 Dec & in the Brexit Referendum. A “losers double”. You need to move on.

This isn't the time for Party politics.

Nobody is interested in anything the left wing papers have been saying lately, as we all know they would never give this Government credit for anything. Because that would mean rising above party politics - something they are not capable of doing.

But the Mail and the Telegraph aren't attacking the Conservative Party. They are asking the Government legitimate questions, based on it being the Government that is taking vital decisions during this crisis.

Testing rate and PPE supply problems do exist.
They are not just an invention of trouble-makers, or fake news.

The Government must do everything it can to remedy the situation.
