What's going on with your Labour Party? have they elected a new leader yet, or is Corbyn holding everything up (something he was good at for three and a half years) until they get tired and just re-elect him? Are they schooling Dianne Abbot for the job, teaching her the ABC and counting in big figures?

They had the vote months ago. Just waiting on Diane Flabbot finishing the count. <doh>

Voting stops at midday on Saturday. So expect the result sometime next week.

Hate to be pedantic but the ballot actually closes today at noon.

Result to be announced on Saturday.

Sir Keir Starmer will win but no one calls him Sir anymore for some reason.

Dont know for sure. Cant be worse than Corbyn and it’s bad for democracy to have an opposition that’s unelectable so let’s hope he’s good.

The Labour Party is a shambles, who ever takes over at the helm has a massive task in front of him or her.

Not so bad for leading a fringe party rather than having to work for a living though.

Are you suggesting lawyers work for a living?

I don’t have much of an opinion either way on starmer but bluntly speaking, having someone who looks like a statesman is a start... having someone who understands that policies are irrelevant if your party is unelectable is another. The centre ground in politics is up for grabs.

I think starmer is seen as ‘centre left’ so I guess they hope he can unify the party... were such a thing possible. Unify and make electable? Different matter

what usually matters most if whether they are power hungry or principled. But if he’s just jezza in a better fitting suit then they’re Donald Ducked.

I wonder what the country woukd look like today if Ed moribund hadn’t stabbed his brother in the back

You are right that was a key moment, the unions who swung it for Ed were cockahoop at the time and much good it did them.
