Have to say the data that the New York Governor is currently providing is far more informative than what we receive here in the UK.

    For example;
    Total number in Hospital
    Daily Hospital admissions
    Daily ICU admissions
    Daily Intubations
    Daily discharged from Hospital

This information plus much more is provided daily and it not only informs the public but treats us like adults so we can all see where we're heading.

In the UK we're told the absolute minimum which I think is a disgrace.

Exactly. Just look to where China are now and how they’re handling businesses gradually reopening. Restaurants taking people’s temperatures on entry. Anything out of ordinary means refusal

The way China, Hong Kong and South Korea have started to close their borders, it appears they are expecting a 2nd wave imminently.

China's state media have said 2nd wave is inevitable

Yeah bound to happen. Difference second time around is they’ll be fully prepared so impact will be far less than first time. This will continue until there is a vaccine available

    "Just because ...."

In this case, there was no "just because". The patient was expected to last a couple of days, not even a week, hence him being taken into hospital to make him as comfortable as possible. This was an actual case. The virus did not kill him - it never even got a proper hold of him. But you carry on speculating pish when you know nothing about the case.

As for the 'recovered' numbers, you just don't get it, do you? Stuck at 135 for over a week. So how did they come up with that figure in the first place, and why has it stagnated? Every other country seems capable of measuring it.

Terrible story. My sister in law has ovarian cancer, prognosis not great and it’s just come back, and has spread. She was ‘lucky’ (though I could do without that sort of luck) in that her op was last month before the virus really got going. But it’s pretty clear if she gets it she’ll be a goner.

my daughters expecting and says she better not need a c section or she’ll be in big trouble.

none of this is much fun. I’ve had more booze this week than I sometimes have in a month.

Are you saying lives of the elderly are more valuable because they paid taxes?

No I just know my Dad who recently died was stage 4 terminal cancer who took 8 months to die, so go fook yourself expert I was just saying.
And The number has been 135 for a lot longer than a week, people were being kept in Hospital until they recovered, but now due to numbers, they are sending people home who aren't fully recovered because they need the Hospital spaces.

No they are equally valuable as younger people but I’m not sure everyone sees it that way unfortunately

Sorry to hear about your dad. Sadly, we're all getting to the age that it's not just our older relatives & friends that are passing, but our mates too. Takes a bit of getting over, so let it out, mate.

I'm no expert, btw. I simply recounted a story I'd read, but perhaps didn't articulate that he was taken in for end of life palliative care.

You could be right about the '135', but other countries are managing to count them just fine. China are up to 76k+, and we're stuck on 135. I have no idea what's going on, but am really quite curious about it.
