Definitely. Was listening to a research scientist talking about it, and they're pretty hopeful on cost (which has already come down dramatically) and scalability, but it will take time. As research gene editing becomes more common, the number of sites capable of creating such will grow, and my limited understanding is that replicating experiments is far less difficult once you have a successful template to work from.

We're doing all of that and across our small village we could here lots of noise and clapping for all those people looking after us, feeding us and ensuring we stay safe, connected, and determined.

A ‘millionaire’ these days means nothing. If you own a house in London you are basically a millionaire.

I find it hard to jump to the defense of Premier League footballers though.

Sitting on their arses right now, still raking in tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands per week.

I said it in the other thread, but they are targetted a lot when anything bad happens. But they are a symptom of a greedy system, not the cause of all evil.

The MUCH bigger problem is the billionaire owners tax avoidance, and this goes beyond football.

For a tory government minister to accuse footballers of greed staggers me in it's horrendous hypocrisy.

I get you. But let’s not forget that football is this country’s most important past time by a million miles. I don’t know the names of any of these billionaire businessmen, but I probably know almost every one of the 512 Premier League players.

Without the British public what are these footballers, clubs, stadiums and competitions?

Defies belief that footballers are so ignorant of this.

Footballers are an easy target. This was also the case in the First World War as the football season continued into 1915. There was a media backlash against football and, to counteract, a rush of players then joined up as football matches became recruiting vehicles. You can read about this in the book "When the whistle blows" which is all about footballers who fought in the First World War. I read it a long time ago and found it really insightful.

To be honest, the current situation has been exaggerated as a nyumber of footballers have subsidised HHS staff or made their property portfolio available free of charge. In addition, managers like Guardiola have given staggering amounts of money away. I do not think that the money situation is being reported honestly. The story which is bubbling away in the background is the effect on smaller clubs. It would be nice to see that the current situation leads to money being allowed to filter down from the Premier League and in to the various levels of the non-league. With the problems with the poor weather and water-logged pitches, many teams were struggling beforehand.

And, pushed to be both soldiers and recruiters, died alongside their fans. Hearts rather infamously lost four players on one day during the Battle of the Somme.

And don’t forget that toe rag Tim Martin who is worth £450m but wouldn’t pay his staff and told them to work for Tesco.
