I said last week that Germany has more Pharma labs and manufacturing than us. It's not false info it's true.

And other claims such as not having sufficient stocks of the necessary chemicals have been denied by that industry. We chose on March 12th not to pursue widescale testing. We chose to centralise testing rather than get as many labs as possible on the case as the more successful countries with testing have. Fair enough they seem to have accepted this hasn’t worked and are changing the strategy to something more like Germany’s but I can’t accept either the government or PHE have made the right calls based on the resources available. We probably couldn’t have achieved the scale of a Germany but we could have got far closer.

That’s the kind of chart we need, but up to date. It’s the 2020 deaths v 5 year average that is important. Any spikes over the 5 year average on a weekly basis indicate pressure in the NHS, even if it averages out the same over the year, most of the stuff above the average we can attribute to COVID 19.

Was it mentioned already that test kits ordered from Luxembourg were sent back, because they were contaminated with........corona virus?

Well that's your expert opinion. With all due respects Watford I would rather listen the National Health adviser and the bods who say different.

It’s mostly lifted from the FT rather than being my non-expert opinion.

Yup, it's about 2 weeks out of date, but all ONS has at the moment. Will be interesting to see where it is in 2-3 weeks' time, as its not currently suggesting any material change in the death rate to 20/3 versus that 5-year average.

Warm weather this Sunday. With police being told not to be too strict I guarantee the parks and outdoor spaces will be packed. It will be like a Bank Holiday and will undo everyone’s efforts to stay in.

Easter Sunday touted as possible peak day for deaths.

Hong Kong and Singapore, two places praised for keeping a lid on the epidemic, are both ramping up social distancing measures, presumably in anticipation of a second wave. They both also have the benefit of tropical climates.

This weekend is going to be a big test for the lock-down. Summer temperatures on Sunday. Will people in the cities resist the temptation to go to the local park?

mmm not good but they said we shouldn't be looking at these figures (even though it's hard not to) but how many new cases and how many in critical care. The hard reality of it. TBH I was hoping it may have dropped. The scientist bloke on Skynews says to expect higher amounts in the coming weeks. :(

It will be a big test. The traffic on the roads near me is much much busier than at the beginning of the week. One of my brothers is back to work (self employed roofer) and he says theres loads of tradesmen out and about working. I've just had a call from a friend of a friend asking if I can skim their daughters bedroom next week. He is a copper believe it or not. I feel like this weekend, with the hot weather, the total confusion over the construction industry, the lack of money available to people who need to put a meal on the table and the constant ****e in the daily briefings will be the beginning of people just deciding enough is enough.
