Life, Leeds United, the universe & everything having a pop about SAFC documentary STID series 2 . They can still not believe that they were beaten by us at Wembley in 1973 and describe it as a flukey win , I was there and enjoyed the victory but it was a long while later that I watched the game without the tension knowing the outcome and saw it in a completely different light . Sunderland on the day were brilliant and could easily have scored on several occasions, whoever wrote the article I would suggest should have a look at the DVD again as painful as it may be then be honest with themselves as to whether it was a fluke or not !!! . It was like watching a different game from my perspective and I would suggest that if they looked at it objectively they might find it the same , needless to say I enjoyed the DVD with the tension removed . What a great day that was ! Bit like them no love lost between the teams over many years , any success they had over past years will be tainted by the bribery claims against Revie and the club which has been backed by a number of ex players .
I may have posted this on this site before but my mate put the £500 deposit he had for his house on Leeds to win that day. He's never really spoken about the conversation he had with their lass at 5 oclock that afternoon .
Basically it comes down to pure jealousy we get bigger crowds than the majority of the 92 league clubs despite languishing in league 1. What other reason is there for clubs to despise us. it's not like we are arrogant fans it's not like we keep winning trophies, it's plain and simple jealousy
your right BM, when Ron Guthrie had more shots at goal than Allan Clarke did it must tell you something. I was there with four of my brothers and it was and still is the greatest day out football wise I have ever had.
The one club in the country I cannot stand, sleazy little Leeds, Revie was the most crooked manager to manage a football club, what happened to them couldn't have happened to a better club.
Stokoes comments about Revie must put a cloud over how really successful that team was or was it the result of under the counter Brown envelopes that helped somewhat. I like Leeds as a city but don't like their club or their fans who a bit like our near neighbours feel they have some entitlement in football.
I'm aware that for most on here, our 'Friends to the North' are considered to be the enemy. Not me. It's Leeds. As a Club they have an interesting history. Formed after the First Club, Leeds City, went broke, they have managed this again several times since. I don't mind that but I feel sorry for unpaid suppliers. Their infamous team of the 70's was the dirtiest I ever saw. I have only good memories of most of the 'Hard Men' of those times. The likes of Jimmy Scoular and Chopper Harris, but the likes of Giles and Bremner were just cheats, and unlike the other Hard men, they could hand it out, but not take it. Their Manager was reputed to sink to any length, including bribery. And to cap it all, this Club is so proud of that era that they have statues of Bremner and Revie outside the Stadium. Is there a less popular Club in the World than Leeds United? Not in my house there isn't.
My best pals a Leeds fan. As a result I quite like them. Proper city. Proper club. Proper fans. 1973 is ancient history. Only them and us in the land can boast the support we’ve had home and away in distress. Maybe the Mags would be close, nobody else. I can see I’m against the grain here but I’ll be happy to see them back in the PL.
My brother's a Leeds fan (that's a very a long story) and I've never disliked them (my mate's have always hated them !) . . . . and I, too, would like to see them back in the Premier League
Revie and his shameful teams were a disgrace, and should have been held to account, that they weren't was a travesty. Not much has changed at the top table, but one thing the TV cameras have done is to confine players like Collins, Hunter and Co to history.
Hard and ruthless is fine imo, Chelsea at that time were both of those things ... ... Leeds, however, we're sly cheats and proud of it. That's the reason they were so hated and still are.
our win goes down as one of the greatest ever in F A cup history, and won't be repeated oh hang on Wigan !
That'll be Wigan the top flight club? Southampton 3 years after us and West Ham 4 years after them were repeats, not Wigan.
