I’ve worked in the exhibition industry and been involved in the construction of many large exhibition stands at Excel. As Disco says above , they have the benefit of months of planning , preparation and organisation . I can’t see how any comparison can be made .

To be fair you could say it's equally true that you can't compare what's been done with building a hospital.

I heard plans were considered to set up a unit in Sunderland near the Nissan site, maybe its still under consideration, lets hope their is no need for it.

I think you mean that building a hospital requires constructing the building itself , getting the services in from scratch etc? Yes it’s different

    Pretty much mate.

These buildings are built to accommodate a wide range of installations so have miles of conduit for electrics, internet, cabling, gases, etc.

Not sure how the toilets will cope though ;)

Yes it’s a huge building , but the access channels mean you can get electric/ water to within a couple of meters of any point. Toilets an interesting one though , wonder if/how they’ve put more in - if you happen to be mid point between the existing ones , it’s a hell of a walk !

I notice you have edited your original post, mentioning the endless rows of the same thing.

Sorry, but I won't and refuse to downplay this. We mobilised a full utensive catmre unit in 9 days, that I pray won't be needed.

Yet you think and actually posted that it needs to be put in perspective? How's about you **** off with your perspective

He's not worth getting into it with Chunk. I think he does just to try and be controversial.

Remember he was saying that when the Aussie bush fires were happening that people basically deserved it because they chose to live here.

Hanging in, but the original post got to me. The perspective comment made it worse, perspective that we had to fit out a field hospital In 9 days, perspective that the NHS is struggling, perspective that my sister is front line and has been on 12 hour shifts for the last 2 weeks, perspective my uncle was told on Sunday night he wouldn't get a ventilator as others needed it.

Piss and moan all you like about safc, but ffs don't piss and moan about the fact that we NEEDED to do this to maybe save a few lives.

Sorry @Ozzymac not a rant at you, far from it

Bit of a shame I can only like this post once. I'm still chuckling.

Ouch! That sounds as though I'm off your Christmas card list :emoticon-0101-sadsm (though I'm not suggesting that I was ever on it). :emoticon-0145-shake

Don't tell me his RTG user name was Bagpuss - he even took in washing to make sure he kept up with his need for a constant 'fix'.
