I think the season should resume as soon as is safe to do so, whenever that is. Your question is then not relevant, whoever wins enough points , or wins the playoffs are the teams promoted. The question will then be what happens going forward, the answer to that question will depend on when this season completes, but it will then be a known and the best solution for all concerned can be arrived at.

That’s the fairest solution , but will that be the way it pans out , who knows .

I’ve a feeling games will be played behind closed doors to complete the season earlier than would be possible than if we wait until we can safely have crowds allowed into watch, to me that’s defeating the whole object of football, which involves passion , crowds and atmosphere, but what do I know.?

The players we have been robbed of due to not being in the top flight

    Snodgrass
    Milner
    Lennon
    Danny Rose
    Casper Schmeichel
    Fabian Delph
    Lewis Cook
    Chris Wood

The list goes on and on...

Atmosphere is everything. Talksport actually add crowd noise to their commentary, otherwise would sound flat.

One thing is for sure - the football will restart at some point.

Now, question for all the 'end it now' up-talkers: "What is the advantage of starting another season (with perhaps not enough time to complete it) compared to completing this season"?

Bottom two should drop, top two should come up.

After 38 games we simply deem the bottom three weren't good enough, doesn't matter how many points they have or if they have a positive goal difference or not. We just drop them, heartlessly. Now this season will be 29 games, not 38. If the teams go out with the aim of winning every single game, over 29 games the bottom three simply haven't been good enough. For me the argument that the bottom three can still fight out of their situation and therefore it's not fair, is akin to saying that if the season went on for 48 games and not 38, the bottom three mathematically could have avoided the drop. It doesn't matter, they just weren't good enough.

But since Bournemouth are level on points, and playing the playoffs will be challenging, just have to bottom two drop, let the top two come up.

I think its a tough one ellandback.
Leeds finally seem to have got it right, but you can argue it both ways. I'm sure Fulham still fancy their chances of catching you (though they said that in the run in against us when we last went up - and even when they finished 3rd they still said they were better than us <doh>).
Too much uncertainty with so many games left. Those 3rd to 6th will be pissed off if theres no 3rd promotion place as well. Someones going to feel hard done by.
Heard all the arguments and each have their merit. The fairest is to finish the season, but if it goes past june, what happens about players contracts and the transfer window?
    Its a buggers muddle.

As for being robbed of players, I think you got good fees for them and we've all been there, but I take your point.

One of the biggest concerns must be for the future of british football in general. Even the big clubs can't afford to pay out big bucks indefinitely with no money coming in from match days.
Not sure what the sky contract looks like. If the season is canned, will they want a refund, even if only in part? What are the legal obligations? Is there a force majeure clause and who does it favour? Do clubs have insurance for this? Not pretty.

    Stay safe everyone.

One thing's for sure - there's going to be loads of re-written contracts in future. I think the term 'Force Majeure' will feature heavily & have all sorts of associated clauses.

    Kerching for the lawyers!

Maybe the agents will even have to start earning their ridiculous commissions at last

It says a lot about Leeds fans that they'd like to be promoted in this way.

OK . Do you really want to spend more decades claiming you won something you didn't?

But the statement was Swain should be finished. Why then would we be claiming something we didn’t win. I’m really struggling to understand what you’re saying

I’ve been listening to an hour of us news and trump press conference. Explains why my brain may not be firing on all cylinders. I’ll read back in morning WJ

I don't think any decision should be made until we have a clearer understanding of when we can return to some sort of normality.

Having said that, my furst choice would be to complete the fixtures - even if that means reducing the number of fixtures for the following season.

My second choice would be to a PPG system, with relegation and promotion but doing away with the play-offs. So Liverpool would be champions. Aston and Norwich would be relegated. West Brom and Leeds promoted. Barnsley and Luton relegated. Cov and Rotherham promoted. All the way through the league pyramid.

No third choice in my opinion.
