There have been two studies on this. Trying to rely on my rather poor short term memory, more comprehensive and more recent one suggests an average of 5.1 days between infection and symptoms emerging. The earlier one suggests 11.2 days.

That may well be true. However not all exhibit symptoms.
It's not surprising that there's confusion given the different "opinions" floating around.

To fight the boredom of lockdown.
They say there's a novel in everyone, the lockdown provides an opportunity to prove it or otherwise.
I'm up to 38,000 words on a quartet of stories. Time to be creative!

There was a special edition of Cross Country Check Up, a long running weekly CBC programme about topical issues. Today, of course, the topic was Covid 19 with Dr. Brian Goldman, an ER doctor in Toronto and regular CBC contributor on medical matters. He is very good. It was interesting and insightful and you might be able to find it online but the one essential that came out of it was, as everyone has been saying, "Wash your hands regularly and stay at home."

    Stay healthy and happy.

I caught the swine flu when that was doing the rounds a few years ago, (I genuinely think I caught it at Bramall Lane on our amazing Boxing Day win in 2010).

It was not a nice experience. The symptoms though were pretty much exactly what they are describing Covid-19 as being - ie persistent dry cough and fever. But I also recall just normal breathing being painful for a few days too.

It was only for a week or so however. I didn't need any medical intervention and this virus sounds very similar. So for that reason I'm not worried about catching it myself; it's more my elderly relatives pushing 70 that concern me.

Oh and after that experience, I also vowed to never again phone in sick at work with 'the flu' if all I had was a cold. I learnt just how horrible flu actually is in comparison.

Someone described having covid as like having a dog sat on your chest.

Im a cat person. And breathing through having a cat on my chest, with a dry cough is exactly how I remember swine flu.

I have to say the people here have been brilliant, they won't allow me out of the house, doing my shopping and getting anything I need.

Those fair number of countries were relying on the WHO for updates and advice, and without getting political the WHO and their questionable Director General are under the microscope for kowtowing to the Chinese Government. But the whole Chinese Government subject would be a thread on itself if politics were allowed.

No argument here, other than self determining initiative is lacking these days...coincidentally saw Cribbins on an old episode of Minder a couple of days ago.

    Good luck.

Wifey did similar a few years ago that got a lot of interest at the time about something she apparently witnessed as a young girl living near York over a period of time that scared her and two other friends for years and to this day still cannot be rationally explained.

We’re building these field hospitals everywhere, we have Dyson and McLaren churning out ventilators, if the lockdown remains does this not seem an over reaction? This lockdown is buying us time to go for the herd immunity, that’s how I see it. The government hasn’t got a bottomless pit, the minute big companies start to close resentment will set in. We’re only two weeks into this partial lockdown and people are unable to stay in.

I take your point , but perhaps the powers that be think we will need all those beds even with the lockdown ?

Good point about the Big companies starting to fold . I work for Openreach and although I think I will be ok , had an email from the chairman saying tough decisions will have to be made . Anyway hope all of you and yours stay safe , I don’t often venture over here .

Can I ask if you are still carrying out installations and attending customer faults?
