The teams below them are bang average at the very best !

The football authorities prefer to finish the season. If this cannot happen, two options are being considered. A) Scrap the season, declare it null and void. (no promotion and no relegation). B) Decide league positions based on points per game.
Either option would work for Hull City, Leeds would prefer the latter.

Not really interested who goes up with us not been involved although if they decided the league stands has it is then at this moment in time, WBA and Leeds would be up and more importantly we stay up which i would be happy with. Like many say though it's a strange time and sport is not important at this moment . Hopefully one day soon we will all be back in our stadiums cheering our own teams in but at the moment everyone's health is number one.

Think it's increasingly doubtful this season can be played out which leaves the leagues looking for a second-best solution.

Increasingly probable there'll have to be no promotion or relegation, but trophoes/prize money/compensation awarded to those who would have gone up based on points per game, so there's a financial advantage going into the new season for those clubs when football restarts.

Financial settlement with those who would have been promoted will be cheaper than paying out those who would be relegated on current points yet hadn't been able to play everyone twice as well.

It'll probably end up in the courts.

    Money talks.

Thousands of people young and old are dying around the World from a mysterious Virus with no cure or vaccine and yet some are seemingly more concerned about promotion?

    Words fail me...

    There are indeed
However Leeds not being promoted would at least cheer up a significant % of the population a bit so it’s in the public interest that they don’t to keep up morale.

    Keep Calm and Relegate Leeds.

I think they should just expunge results and start this season again as the 20/21 season. It’s best for all concerned.

I don’t think it would be possible to finish the season as it stands. Too many clubs have too much at stake.

I wonder if it would stand up to scrutiny should relegated sides decide to chase loss of earnings they had every chance of avoiding otherwise?

I would expect the season to be finished whenever it can be, allowing a fairer way to be decided upon proceeding the next season and getting things shifted back to normal. It’s the easiest and most logical solution to me, we are 3/4 through a season already why completely **** about with it when it can be concluded and the future can be allowed to run its course however it may with everyone on an equal footing?

Makes sense to me. Can't remember who suggested it, but however long it takes (9 games left, 2 per week maybe) & just shorten next season ( randomly draw out home & away matches for a 19 game season (10 home or 10 away based on weighting by previous seasons final position - promoted & relegated clubs ranked appropriately in the draw ?). Slightly different for Ch, L1 & L2 etc -23 games. Same basis across Europe for qualification for the international competitions (you know what they are).

Players contracts should be auto-extended for the shortened season across the board. No transfers until the end of the abridged season.

Ah yes, ****ing TV companies to sod off with their "compensation" demands or sod 'em, no games to televise. Where are you Sydney (I'm on ignore - but the weasel will sniff it out).

Aint gonna happen. "Auto-extended" - lawyers would drive a freight train through that one. I get what you're trying to say but, no. What about all the players that maybe are already under a pre-contract with another club - they're not going to want to risk injury and I'm sure there's a lot more reasons why players either won't want to extend their contracts or legally its a minefield to even attempt to do it. Void the season is the fairest way. Fair to everyone, no. However anything else is open to potentially massive claims of unfairness or legal action. Forget about this season, we'll be lucky to start the new one on time.
