For the last week I have been exchanging emails with my MP, reference whether or not people in my situation, who care for vulnerable loved ones, but are key workers in active jobs, should be able to be furloughed.
Today I have finally received something back, from him, that I can send forward to my employer.
This will at least put my employer on the spot, and if they continue to refuse, I will know that it is out of sheer spite

    Below is the email.

Employees who are unable to work because they have caring responsibilities resulting from coronavirus (COVID-19), such as your caring responsibilities for your wife, can be furloughed. However, whether or not to place you on furlough is a decision for your employer to take.

When employers are making decisions in relation to the process, including deciding who to offer furlough to, equality and discrimination laws will apply in the usual way.

I told you that you are eligible for SSP beyond 2 weeks because you said the following in your initial email:

‘Because of the work practices, and my love for my wife, I asked if I could self isolate, in order to protect her, initially for 2 weeks and then possibly longer, dependent on government advice.

This was agreed, but I have been told that they will not pay me, other than 2 weeks company sick pay or unless I use up my holiday.’

Therefore the guidelines do not stop you from getting furloughed. If you wish to be furloughed you should have a conversation with your employer.”

Standing in a line 2 meters apart outside my local Tesco express. When some "twat" started vaping in the line ahead and the wind carried the smell down the line.
Now if I can breathe that in then surely if said "twat" has covid-19 then He must be spreading it. No one said a word until I piped up, then they all joined in asking him to stop, which he very reluctantly did. Then inside the shop everyone is keeping a safe distance, except some young girl with her toddler in a pushchair who seemed to think she could go wherever she wanted and stand next to people as they looked to take stuff from the shelves. I think of myself as a pretty laid back kind of guy, but I was ready to start slapping people today.

At least in his time of mourning he can hold his head high as someone who has taken the fight on behalf of the people suffering this virus. He was one of the first to put money in. Top bloke.

Anyone & everyone dying is tragic. But this is tragic. I hope that the idiots not taking it seriously now can see what it does as this isn't a random person on the street, but a much loved manager's mum. That could be anyone's mum, and people need to realise it.

I hope this makes sense, as I know what I am trying to say!

Feel for Pep, really do. RIP .

Sorry to keep coming back to this guys, but if anyone wants to check if they are eligible for furlough, the rules have been updated so that key workers who need to take time off to care for children and vulnerable people in their household are now eligible.
It is still dependent on the employer doing the decent thing, and agreeing to do it, but hopefully they ALL will, including mine.

Police us alien technology to combat Covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, due to the reluctance of certain members of the general public refusing to adhere to government guidelines on social distancing and public gatherings, Sandford Police have found it necessary to employ alien technology to maintain order. You have been warned .....

I agree, but this may make people realise it is real. So many people I hear of are still in the "It's only flu" brigade. It isn't and it is serious and if it takes a famous person's mum to die to keep people in then give her all the coverage.

No life is worth more than others at all, but some lives make people sit up and notice that this is indiscriminate and anyone can get it and anyone can die from it.

In quieter times, some (not assuming anyone on here), think it is big news if a z lister 'celeb' takes a ****. If a z lister dies or an A or B lister does then maybe the last few people will sit up and take notice.

Who remembers the good that came out of Jade Goody dying of cervical cancer years ago - young women listened and got themselves checked out.

I hate reality 'stars' etc, but some good needs to come out.

I get what you are saying, but I am going to step away from this debate as I don't really want to have a misunderstanding with others on here for no reason.
