a nurse i know was told last week that "april 16th" will be when it starts getting busy up here.
In hull we will surely be on a more belated timeline than the bigger cities?

a workmate of mine sent me a pic of his £14k latest aquisition, a 1000cc aprilla race replica with whitby in the backdrop.
i said to him what was gonna be your excuse if stopped?
he said, no doubt referring to being forced to spend time with " her indoors",
he'd rather get done for this than murder.

i can here a biker local to me now!!! hes out at all hours. wonder if his journey is essential.
ive been in my vehicle once in 2.5 weeks

Still a precaution apparently, just like his admission to hospital.

He’s conscious but been moved to intensive care ‘just in case’ he needs ventilation.

    If you believe that.

    re tree stump removal.
you simply cant beat a very sharp axe and a shovel. expose the roots with the shovel then go wild with the axe. then repeat. i can see how an axe is the favoured tool of serial killers. once you've found the bottom of the stump you simply attack the roots coming out to the sides and then slowly work your way all around and then finaly under. i did one this way last year that had been lingering for 20 years.

    re nettles
i was once reliably informed in a pub by a scot that "stinging nettles" as he called them, were the ultimate turn on for women if carefully rubbed near the front bum. suprisingly ive never been brave enough to try this.

to mr nettle/shed man - if you are putting a shed up are you putting a concrete base down first? if so ignore the nettles just dig down 6 inch then apply 3 inch hardcore - compact if possible then visquene and then 3 inch of concrete to form the slab. 4 inch if you think its gonna get heavy foot traffic or furniture and 6 inch if you think there will be odours from the many corpses hidden below. no need for insulation.

re returning to normal life. does anyone else think like me in that life for them will never return to normal?

spring bank/princess ave area seems to be much like those in london where they seem to think that they are immune and dont need to heed any advice re social distancing so life for them wont change just like it hasnt during this ignored lockdown. must be a cultural thing

its not just them, teenagers of all races darnsarf have admitted they are flitting between their bf/gf's houses as if nothing had changed
and london parks at the weekend were not as empty as they could have been. london is full of idiots i am convinced. i can see that video of the crammed tube hours before enforced lockdown.

but for the more consciencious amongst them and us i think social distancing might become a way of life. for those of us who survive.

and those paranoid silly c^nts in tokyo wearing face masks for the last 2 decades might not look as out of place anymore.

just read 3000 people sunbathed etc in lambwath park on saturday prompting officials to close it down on sunday. reopened today and people are still using it as if its a bank holiday.

london really does seem to be full of idiots. wonder if its because stabbings are down so they all feel safer leaving their homes?

Did I hear that correctly? Got CNN on (Clinton News Network) and it said anyone of Boris J's age group in intensive care with coronavirus has a 55% chance of survival. That's got to be worrying. After having a quick look around that could be right.

Factor in his struggles with obesity. He is by no means a fit man. Us men of Hull are from totally different social backgrounds ie sons of trawlermen yet I would wager many of us are in the same boat re fitness.

I had to take my wife to hospital today for an appointment to see her consultant. We have been waiting to hear if the cancer had spread. I got a call at 11am and was asked to get her there within the hour. It took a while for the wife to get ready. The normal 20 minute journey was done in 10 minutes and we got there within half an hour.
Because we didn’t have a letter they wouldn’t let us in.
I can’t say on here how desperate I felt as they couldn’t find anyone to authorise access.
We have been waiting at home for three weeks in isolation, no real contact from the hospital and the surgeon had said if the cancer had spread, he wouldn’t operate and that chemo isn’t an option at the moment. This consultation was very important and significant. So there we stood whilst the clock ticked and our consultation started to vanish.
    I broke.
They eventually after 25 minutes let us in and we had to dash to the reception. They told us that the security had changed after they had contacted us and that several people had been held back, all for different consultants. If we had been any longer the surgeon would have had to leave.
The news was that the operation may take place next week in a private hospital. No intensive care available. High risk and if the hospital becomes infected, no chance of survival.
The hospital itself was empty. Ghostly empty. I have had to visit at 1am in the past and it was busier.
We have new battles to fight, new hopes and worries.
Our only sanctuary is our home.

just scrolled down to the list of towns and the percentage staying at home.

some areas of london obeying (more affluent areas?)but then others disregarding government advice.

For decades theyve always been jack the lad ducking and diving a bit of this and a bit of that. Half of them think they are one of the Kray twins and they have this air of superiority over everyone north of watford and think they are above the law and think they know best. thats purely the attitude ive come across in my limited dealing with"them"

My wifes 2 sisters moved down to London and are still down there, married with 5 kids between them.
One works in a doctors surgery and the thinking is they're all going to get it and hospitals are already full down there so whats the point.
whereas we in hull with 97% of households with zero symptoms and 1 out of 3 icu wards with spare beds at hri the outlook isnt so bleak and i would wager many of us wont be exposed to the virus before a vaccine is found?

    too much wishful thinking?

**** me mate im sorry to hear that. i did fear what would happen to all the people needing serious medical attention unrelated to covid such as your wife
. ive heard its eerily quiet at hri apart from the two icu wards and ward 10/100 the unofficial reception ward.
    dunno about castle hill

i can see how they cant take many chances. 4 doctors are in nottingham icu with covid, one of them critical.
fingers crossed for you mate. my missus had cancer.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.My young sister in law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on Saturday which has spread to her brain and stomach, they put her out of hospital, she has no pain relief and can't even get a sleep due to pain.We can't go near her as we fear we could kill her if one of us have coronavirus.....surely the NHS need to deal with both coronavirus and other crucial care at this difficult time?? Anyway, think positive,as I am.Regards Ric ☺

    From the telegraph:

According to figures published at the end of last week, 50 per cent of patients admitted to intensive care in the UK have recovered - and the other 50 per cent have died.

Sarah Newey, our global health security reporter, has more:

An ICNARC report details the first 2,249 patients critically ill with Covid-19 in the UK. Of those patients, 690 have left ICU - 344 lived, and 346 lost their lives.

In terms of how this data applies to Boris Johnson, we need to look at the age breakdown of fatalities. Of the patients aged 50-69, the chances of survival are slightly better - 54.2 per cent recovered after spending time in ICU.

Paul Hunter, professor of medicine at the University of East Anglia, told The Telegraph:

"I doubt they would put anyone onto ICU that didn't need to be there... you are usually very poorly to be taken onto ICU. With Covid-19 patients, 50 per cent of patients do not survive after admission."
