The same Trump who said yesterday that he was dispatching “two companies” to London to cure Boris? Chinny reckon. His pressers are two hour flights of fancy that he does because he can’t do his rallies any more and he needs the attention. The tv stations have stopped broadcasting them live and only go to them if Dr Fauci says something.

following a summary of them by journalists like https://twitter.com/atrupar is far more informative.

The CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has just announced he's giving up almost a third of his net worth ($1b), to fund COVID-19 relief.

A small Pennsylvania biotech company is planning to start injecting healthy volunteers with a potential coronavirus vaccine this week, after having received regulatory clearance to start clinical testing.

Researchers plan to dose the first person on Monday. The experimental vaccine was developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals, and the effort has received funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.

The same Trump who today has said he wants to cut the USA's funding to the WHO because they are "China-centric" and didn't respond to the virus properly. I mean, even by his standards, that's a ****ing low blow. There are videos of him saying it's nothing to worry about AFTER the WHO declared it an international pandemic and an international emergency. He's a ****ing ballbag of the highest order, because his people are dying quicker than they can bury them in some states and he's washed his hands of all responsibility. He's handled this in the worst possible way, I can't imagine how angry people over there are, having to listen to him day after day talking about what a great job he's doing while people die because of his lapse approach.

If he gets re-elected off the back of this shambles, then it just shows how daft the voters over there are.

For a good leader, look at NZ's PM and what she's doing.

There's a certain amount to be said for the premise that a countries response to, and therefore outcome of, Covid-19, is significantly influenced by whether their Premier is in it for themselves or for their people.

We had to go back to the hospital today, call came in at 1130, appointment 1300. This time we asked for an email to confirm the appointment. Totally different experience. I left my wife at the department reception and went outside to wait.
As I passed the main reception, I said sorry, to the receptionist that I had spoken to earlier in the week. She was fine, I hadn't lost my temper, shouted or anything like that, just emotional. She said that anyone who coming in for appointments now is considered to be urgently in need and that lessons were being learnt, one of which was that patients had little notice of appointments and that it was difficult to confirm as the clerical staff were working remotely. She said we just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What I haven't said before is that Costa, Marks & Spencer and WH Smith are all open in the hospital. What looked like a truck load of food stock, like bread, milk and eggs was behind the shutters of the closed M&S cafe.
Only 1 in 10 of the staff that I saw walking about had masks on and no one had goggles or gloves. Compared to Monday, it was very relaxed and this was lunch time.
My wife now has a possible date to go into the private hospital, 6 hour op and up to 10 days recovery in hospital.
