Never a good move, but similar to journalists expecting clear and concise answers to questions put to politicians.
Like many I suspect, music is keeping me sane at the moment. A couple of catchy tunes with piano/keyboard breaks My favourite Madness song And about as poppy as Wire ever got
Just cos I watched the Oasis doc on Netflix last night. These swaggering Mancunian fools never fail to amuse...
I've climbed back on my XTC bike, and as it's the time of the year, Easter Theatre: Andy was very proud of this song. In Voices of... [see a few posts above] he mentioned that he thought he'd got "Beatle Good" with this one. I think he is way too modest. Both He and Colin regularly got Beatle Good. Occasionally Beatle Better, in my honest opinion.
Something for us to attempt. I'm going to think this one over and reply with my answer on Thursday morning.
Almost anything by ABBA. Hang on, let me phrase that more accurately... Everything ABBA released, I was initially open minded about (because they were undoubtedly talented) but very quickly loathed. So, one song? Waterloo will do for starters.
Anything by the ginger busker....Ed something One song would be the one where he meets an Irish girl in a pub.
A strange but quite beautiful song for strange times ..... I miss those haunting John Lennon vocals so much
A piece of genius from the Fab Four that takes me back to long hot summers, pretty girls, great music and a way of life we never thought would end .....
This one is for my Uncle Kenny. A London boy who lived life on the edge. Always up for a bargain, especially if it belonged to someone else. Partial to a punch up in a pub, and always had a string of very beautiful girlfriends and wives. He eventually settled down and bought a shop with a flat above. His best friend Mickey was a barber and rented the shop from Kenny for 45 years. Both were my heroes and 'looked after' me as I grew up .....
Wonderful stuff Kaits. You might enjoy this cover by another of my musician mates, Jim Ramsey. Like most professional entertainers his livelihood has been brought to a stop by the lockdown so he’s playing stuff on Facebook and asking for donations, and splitting the takings 50/50 with NHS charities. Here he covers Strawberry Fields, and before that another quite well-known song, which you might not recognise straight away!
Thanks for that Chilco. I could have triple 'liked' that. I love his version of Strawberry Fields Forever. It's remarkable how many seriously good musicians there are out there doing their stuff, and as you know, music makes the world such a better place. For my sins, I make musical instruments as a part time hobby, as well as a few other things. I have built a number of Stratocater's, Telecaster's, Mandolin's, Balladeer Harp, Bowed Psaltery, lots of Aeolian Harps etc. I have a English Yew Telecaster with a Birds Eye Maple neck and fret board to finish off when I get round to it. I'll be sending Jim Ramsey a donation in a day or so. Thanks again Chilco.
