Good one from my local paper. Bloke stopped by police for potentially violating lockdown. He was transporting a bed from one place to another. He was stopped because the bed was falling off his car roof. That's when they found out he was pissed, he had no insurance, car wasn't taxed and he was disqualified, all this at 11am. His story? 'I was taking the bed to the home of a key worker'.

Our local hospital has 150 patients with covid19 and 30 of them are ICU.
    They have 500 beds available.

The message today is if you have an urgent medical need, still come in.

In the early days, I was quite fascinated by the graph and each day's data vs other country's. The data collection is totally flawed. First we hear it only includes hospital deaths, then rest of uk figures are added at different stages. Then weekend figures are added middle of the week. I think I had coved fatigue before it even started

The Spire in Anlaby is one of the private hospitals hired by the NHS ahead of anticipated of influx of COVID patients, but they haven't got any yet, so the staff were sent home this afternoon. Probably a good thing really, though it seems a bit of a waste.

Yep, my wife was sent home even though she offered to help out with any respiratory physiotherapy. There were quite a few who wanted to stay and help, to be fair.

She isn't entitled to free mobile data or any of the stuff the NHS is getting, though. Which seems a shame.

Its a bit unfair on the rest of the key workers. While I understand the NHS are right at the high risk end, I'm sure there are some other equally crucial services who are being undervalued. What about all the community staff around the country doing house visits and providing necessary and critical services for vulnerable people. Even the supermarket staff who are paid a pittance compared to NHS staff would have a good claim.

While its good that the NHS are getting some benefit, it feels like a publicity stunt,. There'll be some corporate knobhead patting himself on the back for how clever he is.

I think many are worried that speaking about it will make it sound like the NHS don't deserve it. But you're absolutely right. The NHS I guess is seen as a go to healthcare system, whereas private healthcare isn't. It gets much more public attention (and more money put into its funding). But that doesn't mean the workers are any less at risk, or that they don't work as hard. My wife gets paid the same as an NHS physiotherapist doing the same job, yet she has been entitled to none of the free stuff the NHS workers are getting. She hasn't beat her chest, she hasn't complained (even when she was turned away from Aldi a couple of weeks ago because she didn't have NHS ID), she's just got on with it.

It should be about all key workers, to be fair. And I'm not saying that just because I am one, I think there are a lot of services that have gone unmentioned which are owed thanks.

They all deserve a pay rise. For some reason, the MPs just got £10,000 each, but now apparently isn't the time to talk about a wage increase for healthcare staff.

I'm pleased to say a slight increase in those clapping on our street this evening.... not enough though. So I have invested in an air horn. I'll have every one out next week...

Even the fishing boys can appreciate the light in St Ives.

P.s. we are all locking down here. My picture is from last year.
