It's good value I agree and gives them decent scope to move up the draft if they want, and I'd be very surprised if they don't. Here's their full list: First round, 23rd overall Third round, 87th overall Third round, 98th overall Third round, 100th overall Fourth round, 125th overall Fourth round, 139th overall Fifth round, 172nd overall Sixth round, 195th overall Sixth round, 204th overall Sixth round, 212th overall Sixth round, 213th overall Seventh round, 230th overall
Yeah I think we will definitely try and get in to the 2nd round. Don't think it will be worth it in first unless Tua does rapidly drop for some reason but I would say that's very unlikely but Love may be around if we are after another QB. I can actually see BB trading back in 1st if anything as well. Gonna be an interesting draft for everyone, that's for sure and I can't wait
Yeah, I watched the draft for the first time last year and enjoyed it. Obviously going to be dramatically different this year for so will be even more interesting to see how it all pans out.
I think Howard might be traded. I'd take him at the Browns for the right price. They're going to have their moments this season and might even find themselves in a wildcard spot but I can't see them doing anything more than that. It could be fun though.
As for the draft, I'm interested in seeing what the Browns will do at 10. A good tackle on the board would make it a no brainer. Seems like there's 4 options in Wills, Wirfs, Becton and Thomas. Suggestion is though that Becton may fall due to off the field concerns. Isaiah Simmonds is supposedly a bit of a wild card though, that should be taken as high as 4 but could fall. The threat is that someone trades up with the Panthers at 7 or Jags at 9 to take the tackle we want. That either leaves us at the front of the run on wide receivers or in a prime spot to trade back and let someone jump the jets and raiders for a WR. The Broncos would be a prime shout.
Agree with all of this. Nice to see us strengthening the O line to give Mayfield a little more protection.
Reading that the Browns could be one of the teams looking to potentially trade down to gather more picks. Depends how much other teams want to move up I guess but it seems a few teams are listening to trade calls. It's Draft Day and I'm excited!!! (technically, as it is Thursday in America but it starts Friday for us) haha. I'm offshore so can't watch it but I'm looking forward to 7AM tomorrow when I can start analysing who's gone where and what's been traded for what and who.
I'm sad enough that I've got tomorrow booked off so I can watch it. I enjoyed watching the last 2, though this one is going to be weird.
I'll miss it this year as i've got a 900km round trip to do for a job. Stupid part is i'll only be there for 30 minutes but hey ho, it pays the bills
Just entered the competition on NFL.com for predicting the pick. Essentially you own first round draft. After the top 12-15 names you've seen or heard of, the rest is completely alien territory unless you're a big college football fan. The top 3 speak for themselves. I had Herbert going above Tua. Pats taking Tight End Cole Kmet at 23. Jordan Love to drop out of the first. No RB selected either.
Not a bad first round. Some players going roughly where expected and one or two moving around. Quite happy with Pats trade down. Theirs still players we were projected to go for and most likely will so not a bad move by all accounts and now theirs an extra pick in there to grab another players or use to move up the board again if needed. I would like to see 2 TE's headed to New England tonight and maybe another WR (still some good receivers there due to the depth) and then concentrate on beefing that defensive line up. Browns picked up a good O Lineman by sound of it @Flash Gordon and @Ozzymac. Just what you wanted.
From the highlights reels I watched, Wills was my favourite choice so I'm thrilled with that, though I read a lot that Thomas (who ended up going at 4) was the best fit. I'm expecting to see a safety, interior lineman and a wide receiver in rounds 2 and 3 for the Browns. I did a mock for an NFL competition and I had the Pats taking a TE at 23. He's still on the board and will very possibly be there at 37 for them.
I read the summary from NFL.com grades about Thomas and he wasn't keen on Giants picking him that high up but he gave a good grade for Wills so maybe you got the better one... As for Pats, I take it you had them selecting Kmet? He's one I would like to see but don't think he's a 1st rounder so again, pleased we traded back for the extra pick and grab him further down hopefully. I actually would like BB to pick De'Andre Swift (RB) at 37 and put him and Xbox (Sony Michel) back together seeing as they were team mates at Georgia and Swift was actually considered the better back. After that, trade back in to 2nd with the extra picks we have and try and grab Kmet and in the 3rd or 4th go for Adam Trautman. I know they're the number 1 and 2 general consensus at TE but it's not considered a good year for that position so you never know. We have four 3rd round picks so nothing is impossible when you include the 2 x 4th rounders and another 4 in the 6th buffered by 1 each in 5th and 7th. BB has capital to move around if he wants to.
Looks like another decent evening for the Browns. Grant Delpit was linked with Pats in mock drafts so I'd already took a peek at him and he looks a solid player and an overall grade 'A' on NFL.com is good. Elliott looks to be the better of the other 2 and has a good profile which should see him in the starting lineup sooner rather than later. It looks like I called it with the 2 TE's for Patriots, but I got the 2 players completely wrong . Happy with the look and reviews of Asiasi after missing out on Kmet but BB skipped over a couple tight ends higher up the ratings to pick up Keene. He does like his TE's to be blockers as well though and his review says he's pretty solid so hey, who am I to argue with Belichick! It was also painfully obvious he would go for defense first as well though and it looks like he's picked up a couple decent prospects hopefully although Uche didn't start many games for Michigan so to trade up to grab him seems a bit of a stretch. Overall a grade 'A' as well so time will tell.
They must be all in on Stidham or maybe Trevor Lawrence next year. Maybe they just didn't have the draft capital to get to the top 5 this year and they know they need a down year to have any shot at drafting a 'proper' long term QB. Going to be annoying if the Pats plug Stidham in and hose the AFC east as per
I called Delpit for us at 41 so happy to get him despite a trade back. Don't really know the others, but I saw a 7 round mock on a Browns site and they projected Elliot to the Browns at 74. So it looks like we got the man but at 88 after a trade back so got to be happy enough with that.
See some of my previous posts on here Kitten. From what I've been reading for a while it sounds like it's always been 'Stid the kid' who was gonna be given his chance, apparently he's well liked within the organisation and when you even have players like McCourty coming out and praising him then it says to me that he's gonna be the starter. FWIW I don't expect to win the AFC East this year, that title will be relinquished for the first time in a long time to the Bills I think. You could be right though, maybe they're thinking, give Stidham a go and if he ****s it then we will go all out for Lawrence. I expect Pats to be picking in the middle of the pack next year so would they be able to trade up that much is the question...
AFC East is interesting this year. I always try not to write off the Pats, but we're seeing the changing of the guard. I think the Bills are the favourites for the division with the Jets and Pats battling it out for a wild card spot maybe. Dolphins being the 4th, but definitely improved and looking to be the best in the division over the next couple of years with their added draft capital.
