Was dear Charlie a member of the Bullingdon club? Eton/Oxford etc. Or was he not rich enough, he is gobby enough !
I wasn't convinced by Methven from day 1...after watching STID 2 that opinion was just underlined. He came across like David Brent from "The Office" He has buzz words and clichés. He has zero substance and the staff (as limited as they are, sussed that out very quick) Lets hope this new bloke comes with a plan and gets the backroom team focused and more motivated than phoney Methven.
Personally, the only thing I'm reading into this is that Donald is working as if he's staying for the long haul. Anything else such as whether a new owner asked for it, or FPP asked for it is unknown. My own hunch is that Donald is wanting to show everyone (above and below him) that he is not the only decision-maker in the room. After STID2 he will surely be conscious that there will be little faith in the existing team and his own judgement. So that's the main thing. On my old percentage scale, this just bumps it up to 90%: Donald stays 9.9%: He sells to someone else 0.1% FPP buy us outright this summer The middle one is dwindling all the time too.
depends how you look upon it, we need more experience on the board, and no I don’t believe the club is actively up for sale. Donald is waiting for someone to fall into his lap with his asking price
A hell of a lot of Scunthorpe fans on Twitter waving him out the door and seeing this as a win for them. We'll see how it plays out though, I'm happy to judge him on his work for us rather than at other clubs, but it does strike me as a Paul Reid/Richard Hill et al. appointment.
TBF that's what you'd expect from fans of a club near the bottom of League Two. I'd be hoping he has more of an impact on our finances, contracts and marketing than the playing side. His first job will be to repair the damage done by Methven and, to a lesser degree, Donald ... ...the staff, at the club, need to feel valued and part of a team, not Methven's forté.
Another classic SD appointment so much for some plurality of thought. Hopefully he's not as invested in the big grift as Charlie was.
Donald may well have done a decent job at Sunderland without Methven ... ... totally unsuited to be at a club in the NE.
we gonna be stuck with him for years aint we quote from article I myself have spoken with one particular bidder just this week, who is understood to remain keen on buying the club but has baulked at Stewart Donald’s asking price. https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...t=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
Yep His CV is absolutely ****e and according to Roker Report turns out he's a good friend of Charlie. We should give the lad a chance but quite depressing really when you look at whats potentially happening up the road.
In my experience people like Methven don't have 'close personal friends', only associates, contacts and colleagues. Anyone falling by the wayside is looked at as roadkill and people look the other way. If Methven is involved there'll be some subterfuge ... ... I can only hope it's being done to keep Methven 'spending time with his family'. Donald is desperately trying to get us up to the Championship and is either bringing Rodwell in to help the transition with FPP ... ... or, as has been suggested to me, will be part of bringing in other investment and paying back the FPP loan. If that's the case then it'll be a case of plugging away, being promoted, and putting the club back on the market.
