That started happening to me too about 1 hour ago - no Iplayer option on that top line showing.
HOWEVER, there's a "Search iPlayer" entry box to the far right of that top line. If you enter the program name it can be found that way ! I've just got today's Coronavirus Update on BBC 1.

    Give it a try.

I'm still going to encourage Arsenal to sack him though

I'd be delighted if they can't sign any top players anymore!

Unfortunately he's either an idiot or a yes man. If you wanted to protect people in care homes you'd have introduced strict rules from day 1, tested those discharged from hospital, monitored the health of the staff and provided them with PPE. Its neither hindsight or rocket science and should have been included in any emergency plan for dealing with a pandemic.

I think you may find that depends on whether your VPN, which I assume you are both using being expats, is working or not. When I load up the site the UK front page appears for a split second and then is replaced by the non-UK front page if it thinks your isp is outside the UK. That front page doesn't show iPlayer at the top, but with the VPN on and up to date (that's important keeping them updated) the UK front page will be there with iPlayer showing.

The meeting when the government decided that the vulnerable needed to self-isolate for 12 weeks.

You really think you need hindsight to realise that if coronavirus gets into homes for the elderly and care homes it's going to kill a lot of people?

Some care homes have been on lockdown with no visitors for two months. It’s still got in as the care workers obviously have to come and go from their place of work. GP’s still have to go in to them. Ambulance crews still have to go in.
How does anyone propose we stop that? Oh wait it’s the tories fault, no matter what.

The reason that there is a jump in care home deaths isn’t down to the government. It is firmly down to the individual care homes and their management and staff.
Might be harsh on them but that’s how I see it. Deaths in care homes should have peaked 2 or 3 weeks ago.

My wife used to work in a care home. They have lots of part time staff and "bank" workers to cover absences, along with deliveries, laundry etc. Even without relatives visiting, there is a high number of different people entering the homes on a regular basis. The more people the more chance of an infection. It must also be very difficult to enforce strict hygiene with old patients when many have some sort of dementia.I cannot see how the infection rate could be kept down.

Simple. Restrict access. Have decontamination stations by the door for staff, just like asbestos workers go through. Staff wear face masks and fresh uniforms.
It’s called containment and some are not doing it.
No one has been in my house. We have a quarantine area by the door. Post and parcels are not picked up without gloves on.
I have outdoor and indoor clothes. Our only place of refuge is our home.
The elderly needed to be in a similar environment.
I can’t teach anyone about this, but for me it seems like common sense left some weeks ago.

The Germans appear to have done a good job of stopping the spread in care homes. Less than 5,500 deaths in total, including care homes, and they are cautiously relaxing their restrictions. I don't see anything the Germans have done that is a "wow I wish I'd thought of that".

Maybe you reduce incidence of coronavirus in care homes by testing staff, doctors, ambulance crews and other essential visitors and not transferring people from hospital into homes without testing them first.

Most of this is common sense to me and should have been included in any emergency planning.
