Bang average keeper. He's benefitted from the fact that the 3 keepers before him were utter ****e so he seemed like Lev Yashin when he made his first catch. In reality he was only quality until Xmas last year. Since then his distribution has been dreadful and command of box is non-existent. He's a decent shot stopper in league one, no more. He's a hair ahead of Burge for me, that's it. Also his form dropped as soon as a move was mooted. He doesn't want to be here and if he sees Blackburn as a better option good riddance. Another mercenary! I had hoped this would stop when we hit league one, but no, now we have League one players taking the piss out of the club.
We shouldn’t be letting any first team players leave without having a replacement in place, have they learnt nothing from the maja situation?
Of course they havn't, they seem to learn **** all. As long as their mates still have a job its all ok
The issue here is that Donald thinks he has replaced him with Burge, and he probably doesn't want one of our higher wage earners back anyway.
Big Jon has been one of our most consistent performers imo. If Burge, who was unlucky to loose his place, can show the same consistency we wont miss him at all, but we need a back up, where is Max. he would do me.
Don't know how true it is but I heard months ago (not from a great source or owt like but still) that he was looking for a very big contract, around 5 figures a week. It wouldn't surprise me, it's pretty much championship money for a keeper who is championship standard and it will likely be his last big deal. He also seems to have moved on a free a few times so maybe likes the larger signing on fees etc that you get as a free agent. In an ideal world I'd keep him, but I don't think he's so good (and certainly hasn't been this season) that we should absolutely break the bank to keep him. If he's asking a reasonable amount for league one then obviously it's ****e if we let him go
If he wants to go someone call him a taxi. Sick of these f*ckers who don’t want to play for the club. Need a good clear out again for next season.
If he does go, we will have to do with Burge if this season is to be played out. Then re-assess depending on what league we are in. For what its worth, I think Burge is a decent keeper for League 1
good luck to the lad, he doesn't owe us anything. He's done a good job at Sunderland, but if he can get a better deal somewhere else I don't blame him. We are a car crash L1 club with no money and no ambition at the moment, so why stay? I'm sorry to say it but he won't be the last.
He doesn't have a contract for next season maybe that is why he's moving a week after saying he'd love to stay but doesn't know the club's plans?
Let's all be realistic here, this is more than likely his last contract as a player. We'd all be wanting to assure that we were in the best position, financially, if we were in the same position as him.
