Claims that coronavirus came from a wild animal market have been challenged by a new study, it is reported.

China has always insisted that the outbreak began in a so-called wet market in Wuhan, where live animals were being sold.

But analysis of data by an expert scientist points to the virus having been taken into the market by someone already carrying the disease, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Alina Chan, a molecular biologist, and Shing Zhan, an evolutionary biologist told them: "The publicly available genetic data does not point to cross-species transmission of the virus at the market."

Health authorities in Beijing believe the virus came from an animal in Huanan market, Wuhan.

The market was closed by officials a day after the World Health Organisation was informed.


It is believed samples from animals were taken but results have not been shared, even now.

Guan Yi, a University of Hong Kong expert, said: "The crime scene was completely gone.

"How can we solve a case without evidence?"

Donald Trump has previously claimed he had “seen evidence” that Covid-19 came from a lab.

He declined to describe the evidence, but his remarks will ratchet up tensions with Beijing over the origins of the deadly disease.

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, also claimed earlier this month that there was “enormous evidence” coronavirus originated in a Chinese laboratory.

Boris Johnson ’s official spokesman has previously said: “There are clearly questions that need to be answered about the origin and spread of the virus, not least so we can ensure that we are best prepared for future global pandemics.

“This work will need to be done with all of our international partners.”

 

How can you see the whole article in a readable form?

Just what I have gleaned from bits and pieces is horrifying but sadly unsurprising. At some stage judicial involvement will be required to make sure these ****ers don’t get away with this ****. Or we could move straight to a lynch mob, fine by me.

 

While I’d laugh my head off if the lot of them were dragged into the street and beaten to death by an angry mob on live TV there’s not a chance any high-ranking politician or official involved in this will face any serious criminal punishment.

As countries ease lockdown WHO official says now is the time for preparation, not celebration

Dr Hans Kluge, director of the World Health Organization’s European region, spoke to the Telegraph about a second wave of coronavirus infections, post-lockdown Europe and what lessons can be learned from the pandemic.

Lots of countries in Europe are now easing lockdown, including the UK. Do you think countries are moving too fast or are they going at the right level?
Easing of restrictions has to be driven by public health data. You need to have control of your situation. Let’s not forget that the UK is still the second highest reporting country in the region.

I don’t judge – the key message for me is not to tell the UK it’s too early or too late. The key message for me is that any easing of restrictions has to be based on this control package. Control measures have to be in place, including a contact tracing system.

The second dimension to take into account is does the public health system have the capacity to deal with the current and potential second wave influx of Covid-19 patients. This includes your primary health care system and your intensive care capacity.

The third consideration, which is so important, is to listen to the voice of the community. The behaviour of the people will basically determine what is going to happen with future transmission.

We saw this in a number of cases where the schools, kindergartens were reopening and parents were sending children in only in 50 per cent of cases. The community was not engaged.

But it can go the other way – the sun is out and people want the lockdown to be over. The lockdown has not changed the situation with the virus. There’s no vaccine yet and there is no treatment yet.

The fourth dimension is political and social. We do understand that a continued lockdown is untenable. In the UK there has been strong lobbying for easing of the lockdown. We understand this: there’s a huge mental health toll. When the doors open – what has happened behind closed doors over the last three months?

We know that in so-called peace times one out of four women and one out of three children face some kind of domestic violence or intimate sexual partner violence. We know that in any emergency this tends to increase and if health and social care services are being shut down or increased this sends alarm signals.

Do you think countries are following WHO guidance?

I have regular chats with [chief medical officer for England] Professor Chris Whitty. I have great, great respect – he’s a top expert. But in this situation, not always the health voice or health advice is being followed. I mentioned there’s a huge economic interest. It’s a balance between economic, health and political considerations as well as the wellbeing of the population.

Things definitely improving over here now.

Today, 10 deaths and only 64 new cases.

The gradual cautious end to the lockdown starts tomorrow. We have five stages, 3 weeks apart between now and 10th August.

Fingers crossed we can all keep improving and see an end to all of this. The world just needs to find a vaccine and we can all move on with our lives.

One of my 4 brothers owns a small printing firm. On Friday, last week he rang the HSE up for them to check his safety standards and what he has implemented regarding covid19 for his 8 employees. Apparantly he was told that checks have not been instructed to be carried out yet!! Bearing in mind instructions were to go to work if you cant work from home, starting last Monday or wednesday or whenever it ****ing was. How irresponsible to not have HSE up to speed before telling people to go to work.

 

But if Michael Govid19 says it's safe but unsafe then that should suffice
