No - this is the worst game of Guess Who ever.

You need to eliminate of few of the options first...are you wearing a hat? Do you have glasses? That kind of question.

    Agreed.

    Trump is what he is.

Some journalists lose their **** when reporting him, particularly Jon Sopel of the BBC.

If I was his Editor, I would crook him- his impartiality went a long time ago, to be replaced by a peeved Islington dinner party world view of events.

    We deserve better than this.

I'm a bit bemused when folk call out journalists for "over-reacting" to Trump. Trump is one of the most communicative POTUS in history. I read his twitter feed and listen to his live-stream briefings every now and then. My own conclusion is that journalists are considerably under-reporting Trump and glossing over some of his more troubling aspects.

Not wanting to “out” anyone, but SW actually stands for Susan Witwilly.

She is a former Graphic Artist who until COVID 19 earn a living teaching belly dancing in care homes.

We met once at a Fulham game, I will never forget the tattoo of the Queens award for export on her ample right breast.

Depends on what you expect from journalists.

With Trump there is too much prejudicial reporting.

Let us make our own minds up, we don't need some turd slanting the story to fit in with his/her own values/beliefs.

Nancy Pelosi, the most high ranking female US politician of all time, says Trump should not take malaria drug as he is 'morbidly obese'. <laugh>

Yep, but some journalists seem to believe they are columnists or that we want their opinions rather than the facts.

They're pissed with him for quite a few non-journalistic reasons, but he is openly contemptuous of journalists, and his twitter is just a way to pip them to being 'first' with the news, and it means HE, not they sets the main news stories.

If you ignore the politics, and look on it like a message board, he really is a master WUM.

They're not really journalists. They seem to see themselves as opposing politicians. Anyone following the news via the mainstream sites will have a very unbalanced view of events and current affairs.

For the well known journalists like Kuenssberg, Peston, Super, et al, that is their job. The newsreader gives us the facts then its over to them to give us their take on "what's going on". They are the equivalent of the newspaper columnists.

Don't like their opinion? Watch another news channel or go straight to the source and get your own opinion. I quite like being challenged out of my comfort zone every now and then, but I recognise that the majority of folk aren't news junkies like me.

Journalism / Broadcasting is far too polarised in the US.
It really doesn’t matter what is going on Fox and CCN would report it differently.
That’s a problem when they’re is an emergency going on which should be being fought outside of party boundaries.
I know people have a pop at UK journalists but when both political extremes think the BBC is controlled by the other one, that’s a sign that collectively they’re doing a reasonable job I think.

Ok, fair enough, I reply on here then.

I think you have to appreciate that a forum such as this provides a different experience for different posters and is big enough to do so. To me, it's a little strange if you want brevity and 'footy' memes to read and reply to 250 pages of often emotional, worried and angry posts about a global pandemic, when there's several thousand other light-hearted threads to participate in. But that's the way it is.

That is the view held by many- but maybe it's just that the BBC is inconsistent and consistently inconsistent (!) which aggrieves people at both ends of the spectrum.

I think as an institution it is Remain, pro EU and too metropolitan in its political worldview.

Which is fair enough, as long as it has the self-awareness to realise it.

I used to be, but have had to switch off/cut back the last few years due to the repetition and endless opinions masked as fact - it began to feel like listening/watching a gossip column. He certainly doesn't come across as intelligent, diplomatic or as good at public speaking as the previous incumbent, but we've all been waiting for 4 years now for actual proof of his bankruptcy/Russian backing/using his role to make himself billions etc. and still there seems to be very little evidence, the most heavily scrutinised president in history. It's a field of sheep baaing on and on - as another poster wrote, you can read his words direct now and accurately guess the opinions of most reporters, so there's little value in continuing in doing so.

There's very little to none analysis of global forces, why they'd be against Trump/that side of the US and the effect of China and Saudi Arabia funding on the Democrat/other Republicans side. The majority focus on his obesity, hair cut, bad speech pattern and imbecilic twitter posts and has done now for 4 years and unfortunately, many don't seem to be sick of it. It's the equivalent of in the 1980s when a comedian could come on stage and say 'Thatcher' and shake his head and a section of British society would just throw money at him.

And then it was 'Bush' the 'thick ****'.

No attempt to dig a bit deeper and understand why Republican 'thick ****s' keep getting elected., and very convenient to label 250 million people who actually live and work there as trigger-happy ****-kickin know nowts

Well, his six business bankruptcies are a matter of public record, as are his promotion of his own businesses such as golf courses. The Russian stuff is more circumstantial, but certainly enough there (eg in the Mueller report) that would have sunk any politician in previous eras.

As a previous poster said, he's mastered the WUM/big lie techniques for throwing out another load of chaff to deflect and divert criticism of particular issues.

I dunno, I'd quite like the head of government & state of a major ally to be a rational person capable of discussion and debate, it might help when the world is dealing with a pandemic.
