We should have thought of this years ago. A cardboard cut-out of Roland in the directors' enclosure would have been a good wheeze for CARD if they could have smuggled him in there. Pictures of that in the local papers would have been worth seeing.
Even more bizarrely, I think I heard that some Bundelsiga Clubs want to charge fans to have a cardboard cut out of themselves put in their season ticket seat. I assume if you pay up, some photographer takes a snap of you on your doorstep, then they paste your image onto a full size cardboard blank. You couldn't make this stuff up.
Chelsea did the same thing years ago of course, except they used plastic instead of cardboard. Take-up was 100% apparently...
The 2019-2020 League Two season is over. Interestingly the play-offs may still go ahead, once the table is decided on a points-per-game basis. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52679614 But the League One teams cannot reach an agreement. I assume the "Big 6" in League One still want to maximise their chances of gaining promotion to the Championship.
If this is the 'new reality' of Football then you can keep it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52691666 It only goes to prove the well known adage; Football without fans is nothing. Scroll down the page a bit. The stadium was fenced off and patrolled by Police with dogs (and probably guns). More like a prison camp than a sports ground.
Steve Bruce wants PL Clubs to have 6 weeks to get players fit again before the season re-starts; https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52696822 Good luck with that one Brucie Six weeks is almost a full pre-season. You know the timetable; 1. Back to full training this coming Friday 2. First round of fixtures 13th June (3 weeks later) Don't stand in front of a bulldozer unless you want to get squashed. before
Premier League players are being asked to sign waivers, so they will not be able to take legal action against anybody if they (or presumably anyone in their family) contracts Coronavirus because of training or playing matches. The PFA, which I thought was supposed to protect players, has merely said it will get the waivers 'legally checked' if anybody is uncertain. Would you go back to work if your employer made you sign a waiver like that?
When I first read about the cardboard cut-out fans in the stands at Borussia Monchengladbach, it briefly crossed my mind that maybe Clubs could use inflatable fans. After about five seconds I dismissed this as a ridiculous idea... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-52702075 This is exactly what Katrien Meire would have come up with if she was still Charlton's CEO.
Sensible move by the Scottish Premier League; https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52646282 Interesting that all 12 Clubs agreed the decision, including Hearts - who are relegated. Some maturity on show, though possibly some sweeteners behind the scenes?
Watford Captain Troy Deeney won't return to training, because he fears for his family https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52721397 I agree with his stand 100%, but he is fortunate in that he does not need to go back to his job because of money worries. Many people face the same fears for their loved ones, but most will be less able to make a stand. Let's see how many other PL and Championship players send the same message as Troy.
It is quite telling how players of teams near the bottom are far less eager to play than those of top teams. Exact same thing has happened in Italy and Germany. The other elephant in the room will come once the season does finally restart. You can guarantee that players from teams facing the drop will suddenly develop symptoms meaning the whole of the squad that has been training together will have to isolate for 12 days. Very curious to see what kind of foolery will unfold!!
It must be very hard to control the virus around the Den with the high population Density and the incest
Although the incest infection is only a mere 4 miles away from the Den, we seem to have no problem whatsoever in controlling it
