    Hi all,

Just wanted to pass on my experience on medical cannabis. As a lifetime arthritis sufferer, doctors have had me try everything and anything over the past 40 years.

Tablets / steroids that make you bleed internally to fortnightly injections over several years.... my point being, nothing really works.

The doctors in February treated with medical cannabis (CBD oil).

Let’s clear the air on facts and fiction.

With CBD oil ( here in Australia) you can legally drive and will not lose you license or void any insurance, whilst driving.

CBD oil is one part extracted from the plant..... THC oil is the other part, which is the funny stuff. It can space you out and stays in your blood stream for up to 7 days from taking it, hence the reason l don’t take it.

When taking CBD oil, you start low and go slow. I built up at 2.5mg per week, twice a day, after some food.

You need to find your level that works for you. There is NO hit, no effect ( like a pain killing tablet ) after taking the oil.

You have to build up, which l have over a period of 4-6 weeks. I settled in 1.5mg per dose in both morning and night time.

    The results have been tremendous.
A genuine improvement in my overall well being and a bit of a skip I my step, so to speak.

It had been several months now and yes, l still have pain but nothing like before and not full time like before.

All that being said, the price for many will be an issue. To get it from a legal distributor/ chemist, l paid $315.00 for 50mg .... with taking 3mg a day, l would need towards 2 bottles a month.

The costs are just too much so l’ve had to source it elsewhere for which, in a very professional manner l might add, l’ve sourced it at a tenth of the costs from the other.

l continue to get genuine relief, whilst still being legally able to drive, etc. l no longer bleed internally, nor spaced out by steroids.

l decided to write this thread in hope that l may be able to assist others in making an informed decision to help them in the future.

By the way, l am no pothead but a respected business person who over a lifetime of medical issues, l can finally get some relief at an affordable costs and continue to strive for a better life.

Thank you Aussie. I am truly interested in this whole idea.
It is given to patients with MS in this country to stop the spasms and the pain that go with it.
It is also given to patients with severe epilepsy, but boy you have to work hard to get it

But due to the law here people who cannot get it legally resort to cannabis resin with all the side effects (pleasant and otherwise).
I am unsure about why our country is so up tight about this.

I would be really interested in other peoples views

If it is safe to use and has such benefits I can't see the problem. I've always hated weed being a non-smoker and it is so widely used you can smell it easily, a smell I hate. However, the oil if used properly should be available on prescription, why should you have to pay a fortune? It is often a last resort for some awful ailments and, as such, should be given where it is of benefit. I'm sure it is just the name that is the major obstacle over here...

Thanks for the replies so far, good to hear your feedback.

Yes, medical cannabis has been around for 100 years or more but unfortunately, the name carries a stigma ............ but that is slowly changing with the likes of respected people like Oliva Newton-John spreading the word from her various bouts of breast cancer and her relief with this product.

I'm not sure what strain type she is taking though.

Even the CBD-A prescribed to me from the legal doctors, has say, 2% THC in it but that is negligible and standard across the board from the products on the legal market.

Some general food stores and chemist over here are selling Hemp Oil over the counter but it cannot be treated as a comparison to the prescribed CBD Oil.
Hemp Oil is a further removed extract from only part of the plant and in truth, l treat it as a gimmick rather than something l would consider but, to each their own.

Side Effects - Are common and the motto of 'start low / go slow' is testament to introducing into your body 'over time' .......... otherwise, you may race off to the toilet on a regular basis and also be quite ill in the stomach.

Let me assure you nausea and toilet runs are quite common ........... for me, especially the nausea but slowly but surely, it is settling down but is still present daily.
Eating food before taking the oil is a must but nausea can still be an ongoing issue but l guess thats better than the steroids that would make my hair fall out.

Again, overall .................. l'm streets ahead in all aspects.

Interesting read. Since my early twenties I have suffered from Ankylosin Spondylitis (now 58) and have had to take drugs to help me not become crippled by it. I had it five years before finally some wonderful man diagnosed me correctly. The cocktail of drugs I take daily are that strong that I have to take an extra one to keep my stomach from being ruined.
It is quite obvious that the drugs I have to take must be doing some kind of harm somewhere in my system and a few of my friends have suggested I come off them and give CBD a try. It’s just such a scary step to take.

Anecdotally, I have been to quite a few patients with chronic pain conditions who have found a great benefit from cannabis products.
Obviously I couldn’t and wouldn’t condone this behaviour but then again it’s not me who is suffering.

Fair comment there Staines but as you say, if we can gain some genuine pain relief, it’s something worth considering.

My wife has worked in a pharmacy for many years and has witnessed many people Stocking up on all sorts of drugs week in, week out.

She says they look like zombies being that they are dosed up on tablets.

Problem is, this can be a domino situation where the person needs to take a selection of drugs to try and balance the associated issues of the main drug.

l know with my own experiences, some drugs are hard on the stomach linings, others attack the liver etc. It’s a dog eat dog situation.

Throw in a patient having IBS and Cronins disease and the poor body is being knocked about severely.

Again, l’m certainly not trying to force my views upon people but rather, give them options to consider.

For me over the past couple of months, my body has had a chance to settle down, recoup and find a more normal balance whilst finally finding a workable solution to my chronic pain....... so far, so good.

l don’t smoke or vape, l take the prescribed oil by way of a measured syringe type applicator (without the needle) .

It is precise, quick and clean.

I’m totally on your side mate. It’s a shame that as an HCP I can’t be seen to condone it, though of course I may have different personal views.

I’m all for it. Such a no brainer to have it as an accepted mainstream medicine.

    Nice one Aussie...….

There certainly appears to be a growing call for Medical usage and appears to be a genuine benefit from its use......

Good luck and hopefully many years of less pain.....

CBD products have a lot of health benefits. In addition, they have almost no side effects, so it is a great solution for treating some ailments. I don't have any health problems and have not used CBD for medical purposes. But recently, I decided to try making a vape liquid based on CBD. I spent a lot of time searching for all the ingredients I needed. The hardest part was finding D9 THCP, but I managed to find it. I smoke THC-based e-liquid for relaxation.

Good to hear your pain is slowly relenting Didley, no one deserves to be in a lifetime of pain. Here's hoping that it continues to fade away ! We all know the reasons behind it not been legalised here cone down to money, it always does. I'm presuming that the powers that be are afraid that if they legalised it, it would impact on the usage of other drugs they prescribe for all manner of complaints, thus causing losses for the pharmaceuticals that provide those drugs.

    HS,

I tried it for 18 months, slowly building up to the required levels, even had phone consults with a doctor and went to restricted 'higher levels' but stopped the process though a lack of results. My arthritis levels are most likely much higher than the norm, hence my required weekly rheumatoid injections.

Summary - It did help initially after the first build up but then the results started to wither away.
I was advised that l needed to stop completely for a week, and recommence. This process was to reprogram the body and make it think that a new 'product' was there to help. Again, went thru the process but to no avail.

My prognosis on the whole thing was that the product can assist people of certain stages of pain but after a while, the body gets use to it and the dependency required, increases with lessor results. Let me assure you that it does work to a degree.

Caution though, my take on it ( people will gain different levels of relief from it ) some plenty, some not as much and remember, if you try to up the process too quickly, you will be sitting on the loo more often than not.

I found the best stomach product for IBS etc ( after having tried many and that my wife works in a pharmacy ) ....has been a combination of probiotic with other natural ingredients is Gut Relief by Nutralife. After six years of taking it three times a week, its brilliant, cannot rate it high enough.
If l stop taking it, the gut goes back to being how can l say............ hysterical.

Anyway, thanks for your comments and l sincerely hope you can improve your life .............. and keep supporting the R'rrrrrrsssssssssss!
