....that Mike Ashley is interested in buying the club from Evans....

I don’t have much affection for Ashley but probably less for Evans.

Out of the frying pan and in to the fire springs to mind (if this is in any way true)

He couldn't possibly be any worse than what we currently have, could it?

personally I would welcome him, the investment needed here is far less than what was needed at Newcastle,
might even get a decent manager out of it as well

I don’t think there’s any truth in this. All we know is it’s an EFL club subject to Newcastle being sold and he is going to get better offers than £100m to buy Town along with all its debt off Evans.

As for whether it would be a good idea: we can’t be any more morally bankrupt than we already are as a club and Ashley is a scumbag, this would be a sidestep. We can’t do any worse on strategy and Ashley is clueless, this would be a sidestep. We can’t do any worse on funding and Ashley drains Newcastle, again this would be a sidestep.

Cant see that Evans can be asking anywhere near 100m + the debts (which is mainly to MEvans anyway).

I agree morally they are kindred spirits but I think Ashley is the better businessman and would be much more likely to invest the money to get us to the promised land.

Mike Ashley is apparently taking over the old BHS site in Ipswich, near the old Corn Exchange, and turning it into a 'flagship' site for his empire. Whatever we think of Marcus Evans, Ashley is a demonstrably odious businessman who has a long record of exploiting and treating his staff appallingly. Newcastle United have regressed and stagnated under his ownership, with a couple of relegations thrown in for good measure.

I am certainly no fan or supporter of Marcus Evans and his model of running this football club - and I strongly believe that any on-pitch progress would only be achievable with Evans no longer in ownership of our club. Having said that, I think Ashley would be a worse owner and I can see little evidence that he would benefit or improve us. Most notably judging from his record at Newcastle and Rangers, but also due to the fact he is somehow a bigger PR disaster than our current owner.

We can do better than both of them. Unfortunately, in this country, we have no say or authority over who our owner is.

It's quite a simple question , is the owner whoever it is prepared to fund this Club to the extent needed to get the Club out of this lowly division and become a competitive Championship outfit ? Is that really too much to expect from a Club that can regularly get crowds of 20,000 plus ?
Evans is clearly not that person and personally I don't care who it is as long as there's progress, we've wasted too many years with this destructive clown and it shows no sign of improving so I would be happy with almost anyone else.
