Dominic Cummings is the great strategist behind the Brexit campaign and Johnson's election. He is a very a very clever man who knows exactly what he is doing and plans to do. He is also a risk taker and he knew exactly what he was doing. His wife knew what they were doing was not right which was why her articles about their lockdown while not explicitly stating they were in London implied as such. Every one of us has thought through what might happen to us and made contingency plans for various events. We haven't rushed off and done several things that had the potential to cause harm to others. We have thought carefully about our actions and complied with the spirit and the letter of the law. You cannot have the chief advisor to the British government doing any less otherwise you have to call into question his judgement and his wisdom. Cummings has failed us and now he has to go. If he doesn't go it will have a very dangerous influence on how the pandemic is managed and necessary rules complied with from now.

Cummings has got what he wanted.
Yesterday, Bournemouth car parks were full by 11am. The number of people on Bournemouth pier made it impossible to maintain safe social distancing. Beaches around the country were packed as many people were taking the attitude of “if it’s ok for Scummings to breach lockdown protocol, with the PM’s support, then it’s ok for us to do it”.
One woman claimed that she had driven 250+ miles from Liverpool to Bournemouth, because of Scummings.
Any second spike will now be blamed on the public, rather than poor management, and the government’s preferred herd immunity strategy will continue to roll out, whilst people continue to die.
And while this is unfolding, my MP hasn’t even replied to my email asking him where he stands on the Scummings scandal. Not even the bog standard email that has been prepared for them and sent out by several other MPs, whilst they buy time to see which way the wind is blowing.

Sometimes it’s good to be in a different country and see how they react to what is happening in our “septic isle” (as someone once wrote)
It’s extremely interesting, here in South Africa, to see the amount of sheer incredulity and amazement at what is happening in the U.K. right now. They’ve just about got the absurd reasoning behind Brexit (and I’ve been asked so many times here just what that was all about) - there are many professional and highly qualified South Africans who have asked me what it might mean to them should they decide to emigrate to the U.K. (I’ve had to say I haven’t a clue, but I imagine it’ll be a lot more difficult) - but this latest ****show with Cummings clearly lying through his teeth (and any decent reporter could pull his story apart in a few minutes) and, even if you are sucker enough to believe it, he’s admitted to breaking lockdown laws on at least 3 occasions (and, which makes me want to explode with anger, took his infectious wife and sick son to the hospital quite happily passing on the virus to others!) has got everyone here absolutely shocked.
The standing of the U.K. in the world had greatly diminished but if we let this go and “move on” (as the government would like us to do and are throwing out the sop of opening up retail in a few weeks so we’ll all go shopping and forget it) then this us truly the end of any form of democracy as we are giving carte blanche to this and any future government to do whatever they like.
What is also interesting (and I made this point in my mail to my MP, Caroline Nokes) is the way this also gives carte blanche to the, let’s say, less than honest, government ministers in this and many other supposed democracies to do what they will by highlighting the UK and saying “They are allowed to that there. Why shouldn’t we?”
We have become a laughing stock and it’s an embarrassment to be British right now .....

As you say, EXACTLY what this bunch of liars and manipulators of hedge funds want - a second spike, wiping out a few more thousand of those drains on the budget, can now be blamed on the public - “well they didn’t follow our guidelines”

We MUST NOT let this die down and go away - they must be held fully accountable and Cummings should be prosecuted for risking the lives of others as well as breaking lockdown rules. He should also be made to personally pay for the full expense of his press conference yesterday as government advisers are NOT allowed to make these and certainly not use government property to do so.

Michael Heseltine on Sky giving Boris and Scummings a kicking. He's still a Tory, but what a difference between him and this lot. Scummings and his ilk would never get close to the seat of power on their own. Their eccentric brand of politics would prevent their election. In terms of politics he is the 21st century Commander Bill Boaks. ( Google him)

James O’Brien, from LBC is usually a good listen, and he’s on the mark again with this monologue.

Quite hilariously depressing to watch the senior government ministers bending over backwards to defend this.

Gove realises halfway through how ridiculous this latest lie is going to sound and then attempts to change his answer.

As someone wrote today, getting Boris to sack Cummings is a bit like getting the Emu to sack Rod Hull..

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

George Orwell had people of Cummings ilk in mind when he wrote that.

Does that mean that our only hope is if Scummings has to adjust his tv aerial?

Did Johnson lend Cummings that shirt yesterday? It was several sizes too big for him and not the sort of thing he has in his wardrobe.
