Blimey - That one slipped under the memory radar for me - it seems like decades since we last beat them!

EVERYONE OVER 5 CAN GET A TEST there is no commonsense reason why anyone should ask for a test if they do not have the correct /some of the symptoms.. the labs doing the football have stated 2 or 3 times " it is not interfering with any tests we do for the NHS or .gov

if I wanted a test [ which I am entitled due to my status ] but chose to go private there is nothing stopping me

it makes sense to test footballers ...they are workers returning to work.. same as a few million others … the number of tests that can be done is over 200,000 and no reason anyone cant be tested as the capacity available is not being taken up

yesterday on radio Bristol it was stated care staff were still not getting tested as supplies of testing kits were limited. Care homes looking after thousands of vulnerable residents were saying said none of their staff has been tested for coronavirus, some it was few hardly any said all staff had been tested. an idea would be essential workers get them first in front of football players. sure the public would back that one.

My wife works in a care home and if she wants a test she only has to ask or go to a centre, most in care home are of the opinion, if I do not have any symptoms then why do I need a TEST. I can have a test today, its OK but later I get a sore throat or symptom do I retest or believe I am OK … HAVE ANOTHER TEST 2 DAYS LATER AND AM CLEAR 2 days later I am in bed with temp, or symptom ??? that's when I need a test not wasting money time or resources "in case"
there are 000's of care homes and you will always find 1 that hasn't yet made the effort or followed the procedure [ bbc good at locating these odd ones , for anything from not having enough beans or being "missed out" ]
there is 3 or 4 choices of getting a test so really no excuse now like the past week. Besides "home" kits there is mobile army drive to centres and hospitals is routine ….

This virus holds no prisoners, in the front line you need to very careful, for NHS staff to still get it with PPE MAXED OUT, it must have a different transfer method???? or the infected has slipped up somewhere!

I had a test on Sunday 3rd may at Bristol Airport but have still not had a result!! After 4 days I tried to find a phone number/e-mail address to follow up and there's nothing out there!! I presume that after three and a half weeks it doesn't really matter now!!!

that's weird one of the staff went at 5pm had test result within 48 hours …. another was on third day both negative. what symptoms did you give? not that it should be of consequence

Recent persistent dry cough and over 65. As you say, it shouldn't matter anyway - If a test has been done then you should get a result!

I've been working from home since mid March but myself and my colleagues were offered a Fast Track Covid test several weeks ago as we are designated as 'Key Workers' which is just nonsense. Even more nonsensical is that being home based and being locked down, why did they think we needed, let alone deserved priority for a test when care workers and other Health Care professionals have been consistently overlooked.

the lack of test carried out is not the .gov problem it is people taking them up capacity to test with the extra sites and labs is now about 170,000 more labs coming on line and a consolidation of test methods.
also to get the system running and the slow uptake it was prudent to get as many through the door as possible ...you cant do a lot with small figures you need about 2 - 3% plus of the population per week of suspected /worried
capacity at the moment is more than volunteers!
25000 tracers and daily this means 10 new case histories per tracer per day ….. this means 1 case per 45 mins and tying up leads to dead end [ hopefully not literally ] … with most peeps still in lockdown unless on mobile home numbers will be no good as peeps out ...on the beach in the hills picnic ing in the park or a neighbours bbq … spreading it about a bit more!
Total today should drop tp to 196 allowing bank holiday.

I believe that if we are realistic about containing this disease then in the absence of a cure or vaccine we have to AIM to test EVERYONE. Someone can be infected for 2 weeks before any symptoms show - sometimes no symptoms appear at all (like with the ‘superspreader from Brighton) - imagine how many people you could pass the virus to if you are one of those?
Obviously right now, testing everyone isn’t possible, so we should prioritise key workers, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not.
    That’s my opinion anyway.
