Tropbeau toughs it out to win the 3 Year old Filly, G3 Prix de La Grotte. Getting to ride for the legendary Andre Fabre has to be as good as it gets. 30 time premier trainer says it all. Mickael Barzalona is one lucky, young chap.

Few will really care all that much, if at all, but I'm as happy as a pig in mud, now that French trotting has resumed. :1980_boogie_down:

Last week the running of the G2 Prix ducs de Normandie over the 2450m trip. The two superstars Cleangame and Bold Eagle were there but neither was up to the job. The much improved Earl Simon was far too good. Bold Eagle took third on protest, while Cleangame jumped out of his gear when well positioned with a half mile to go.

    9. Earl Simon.
    15. Cleangame.
    16 Bold Eagle.

The G2 2020 Murat Prize at Auteuil, won by Ebonite. The race is a major lead up to the 6,000m Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris in a few of weeks. The first four home will all likely line up for the big one which will be run over an extra mile. Last year's Grand Steeple-Chase winner Carriacou finished third.

The tiny mare Ebonite did a stirling job winning on this beautiful course known as the "Judge of the Peace." Ebonite was ridden by the Brit Felix De Giles. An exciting finish.

No5 in the blue and yellow.

The fifth heat for the year of the Grand National du Trot Paris-Turf was run yesterday. In winning Fleche du Yucca has earned a start in the Grand Final later in the year. A really strong win over the 2825m. A brilliant drive by Dubois though. He took the lead going down the back the first time, but was passed later on the lap. Dubois retook the lead down the back on the second lap, but was again passed before the corner. The horse was then pulled to centre track in the straight and had an easy victory. On this run, Fleche du Yucca has to have a decent claim in the Final. The favourite Fairplay D'Urzy (No 5) galloped when spooked by another horse rushing to take the lead. Forget the run.

No 6. Bluish colour with a wide red stripe on the silks.

The 2400m, G1 Standard Chartered Chater Cup run today at Sha Tin.

Exultant went in as the 1-2 favourite. A side note, Zac Purton and Joao Moreira rode 8 of the 11 winners on the card. 4 each.

Travel 620k North of Brisbane to the city of Rockhampton, then take a left and 270k down the road you'll find a place called Emerald. On April 11 stewards took exception of a ride by a bloke named Stanley Watkin and rubbed him out for 4 months for failing to Thers a bit of a write up and film of the race. I'd be pretty ****ty if I'd backed his mount Hacksaw Ridge. He settles it last.

Wow, Cyc, nearly 900km is a long way to go to watch horse racing from a racecourse that looked a bit like a 'flapping' track?

It was indeed a suspicious ride, like when he cut in from a good position on the outside in the straight to a much more crowded one (to the right of him and his mount) on the rail. There was no good reason to do this, IMO? However, I've probably seen worse!

The mighty Zenyatta. Built like a huge, brick out house. <applause>

Boom Japanese colt Contrail takes out the Derby, making it 5 from five and 3 G1 wins. He'll attempt to become the eighth triple Crown winner in October when he contests the 3,000m Kikka-sho.

Olivier Peslier had to work overtime the get Call The Wind over the line in the G3 Prix de Barbeville at Deauville. The old boy Holdthasigreen made a bold effort to lead all the way but was beaten close to the post.

Call The Wind. No4, white with green sash.

G1 French 2000 Guineas. A nice win to the favourite Victor Ludorum, a top ride by Barzalona too. I'm not too sure about the quality of the win, especially as looked like the going in the final furlong was better against the rail. He was the best horse though.

    Royal blue.

For those who haven't seen it, the replay of the Coronation Cup. A great ride by Billy Buick aboard the bold, front running Ghaiyyath. He had them all off the bit well before the half mile.

The 1600m G1 Yasuda Kinen. Almond Eye went into the race looking to make 8 G1 wins, but came unstuck. Gran Alegria won her second G1 event.

    No 11.
