Methven said that he expected us to be sold by the end of May mate. Just taking the micky out of the statement even though I'm pissed off.
Has it, didn’t realise. Don’t really pay much attention to the reputation of different posters as I’m a pretty casual reader/poster, more fits and starts. Same here. So take it nothing is imminent.
There’s a pint can of Stella coming out the fridge very soon. My sorrows will drowned and laid to rest
They really need to work out what they’re doing with the club as my youngest (18) and his mates are fed up with tier 3 football. I think they’ll be surprised by how many won’t renew and those with multiple tickets in one family may not pay for multiple £20s for pay for view which this season is £10 a pop.
Both excellent points.. there are many of us who've seen some semblance of success, and knowing it's possible keeps the faith alive. Yet we are at the stage now where a whole generation of kids know us only as a hopeless mess, and have barely seen two wins stuck together in their lifetime. It's crucial that somehow we reverse this trend we're in.
I didn't mean 'we' as in the supporters.. I meant it as a club. There are lots of ways but they all involve money, good intention and good planning.
I've always been of the opinion that FPP was indeed set to take over the club, but there was something that came up in the due diligence that made them back away. IMO, the loan was a face saving exercise to appease the fans who would have been baying for blood if Stuart Donald had come out of the talks empty handed.
This take over thing seems to be have been on going forever and we are no where near a conclusion (or so it seems) I was just talking to some Sunderland fans over here yesterday and we all thought that our club are at a real crossroads. Something will have to happen soon in relation to the ownership of the club as if we think we have hit rock bottom....think again. If the Americans are waiting for Donald to run out of options then they are playing a very dangerous game with the future of our club. When the fans vote with their feet and with money now tight with this Covid thing, then I don't see sponsors lining up to support an average 3rd tier football club playing in-front of a near empty stadium. it cold get so much worse then what we are seeing now....lets hope something will happen soon, the suspense is killing us all.
They would know that any fans who vote with their feet would instantly return once Donald was gone and we were being ran properly again.
Depends a lot on when a takeover happens...Yes some fans will get back on board, but many will wait to see what new owners do...I think Sunderland fans are now punch drunk with false dawns and promises of a better future.
The fundamental problem is that no one can make Donald sell. Newcastle supporters know this situation all too well. They've held every protest possible, stalked him and issued death threats ... ... and Ashley sat back, laughed at them and pulled another stunt to rile them up. It's a sad state of affairs tbh.
Tbf if the season got cancelled and we got taken over straight away maybe not be bad timing if we had good new owners. I doubt that will happen though...
Financial pressure is the only thing that can force a sale IMO. Ashley doesnt have that but Donald does so hopefully will move him on.
