Josh Bowler has extended his loan until the end of the current season, whenever that is. I assume we'll get a few of these announcements in the next week or so, I assume all our loan players will stick around until the season concludes. The out of contract players will be a far more problematic issue.

“It’s a tricky one. At our club there’s a lot of players in the same situation,” Kevin Stewart told the Tapin Football podcast. “There’s not been much communication. Obviously it’s real uncertain times right now. No one has really got answers to what’s going on. “Each player is probably going to tell you different things. They might not feel comfortable extending their contract for an extra month to finish the season if there’s no guarantees they’ll be there next season. “Some other players might be happy and take the risk. For me it would be a good idea to play even if you’re not guaranteed having a contract next season. “The more you play, the more likely you are to get another club or, if you play well, they’ll be more likely to extend your contract for next season. “Different players will see it different ways. The older players might not be willing to risk an injury. Me personally I’d prefer to play, even if I’ve not got a guarantee (of an extended contract).”
Given League 2 isn't restarting, won't Greaves and Sheaf come into the reckoning, especially the former? That mean another couple of out of contracters or loaners shown the door ...
I'd love Stewart to sign another deal, but in all likelihood it'll be on significantly reduced terms and he'll move on
Some truth in that .... but 16 players? That's around 2/3rds of a first team squad! I don't expect many, if any, to still be here next season .... and that's got to be a concern for finishing this season. Just hope the bottom 3 are in an even worse state than us. Next season it's going to be a batch of not yet ready youngsters thrown in at the deep end alongside those not on that list who are still under contract. Surely the club isn't going to let Batty walk away? It does look like it though.
The issue here is that if those players can't agree terms (and let's face it, they almost certainly won't), it means we're left with: Long, Taff, Burke, De Wijs, Eaves, Ingram, McLoughlin, Honeyman, Elder,Magennis, Lewis-Potter, Lopes, Samuelsen and Scott. And a **** load of youth players. Two of those are goalkeepers, three have barely played for us, which leaves nine "experienced players". Given that we seem to **** out in the transfer window, it's a right mess for next season. Next season will start pretty soon after this one, so it doesn't leave much time to get players, whoever they may be, into the squad and gelled. We need to activate those options, otherwise the rebuild job with no money is going to be ridiculous.
it’s ok we are all familiar & experienced in the usual summer shambles, it’s happened every year for the last 4 years. And probably for the next 4 years too.......
Clubs in the EFL will be allowed to offer players out of contract on June 30 a new short-term deal to enable them to finish the 2019/20 campaign with their club. The EFL last month came up with a number of proposals in an attempt to help sides across all three divisions deal with contractual issues that have come about due to the action being halted. And now a source close to the EFL has confirmed to Hull Live that the proposals were passed by clubs at a recent meeting and they are now able to implement them. There are four main changes to contractual regulations that clubs have agreed to and they are likely to most affect sides in the Championship, at this moment in time. The first one is that clubs cannot approach players whose contracts expire on June 30 until June 24. Clubs now also have until June 23 to offer players a new contract or release them - but they will be unable to play until the 2020/21 season starts, even if they secure a new club. While players out of contract on June 30 will be able to sign a short-term extension which will run until the 2019/20 season is completed. For Hull City, that means the likes of Kevin Stewart, Jackson Irvine, Eric Lichaj, Dan Batty and Stephen Kingsley, who are among the 10 first-team players whose contracts are set to expire this month, could all still feature before their long-term future is resolved. A source close to the EFL has confirmed that all changes are consistent with FIFA guidance issued in response to the coronavirus outbreak. The EFL announced their intention to resume the 2019/20 season on June 20 on Sunday evening, three days after the Premier League season is expected to restart.
It is concerning that no discussions seem to have taken place with any of the out of contract players.
