On June 20th I assume. Any specific CAFC football related news & views (as opposed to news about ESI and ownership issues) can go here rather than in the general Football (Coronavirus) thread or the Nimer / Southall W***ers thread... I heard them talking about Lyle Taylor on TalkSport this morning. Sticking the boot in for the most part. I will have to try and catch up with the details of this story...
I haven't read anything new about LT, but based on what I already knew, I agree he should train and play until his contract expires. Unless he is concerned about catching the virus and wishes to use that reason to refuse to play. As far as I know he has not done that. Taylor's reason seems to be wholly an unwillingness to risk injury before his last move (a big money one apparently). For me that is not a valid reason, until midnight on the last day of June. If there are 3 or 4 Charlton fixtures going ahead before that deadline, Taylor should play in them if picked. He has had his wages paid since the league was suspended. He should honour his part of the contract.
My feeling completely. When he was injured he got paid the whole time. He signed a two year contract, and should play games for the whole time stipulated. Imagine if at the end of a players contract, the club decided not to pay the last couple of months as they needed the money to buy a replacement, I'm surprised he didn't cite Covid-19, as the fans reaction would have been very different. But sadly this snacks of selfishness. If te season continues beyond his contract I would accept the fault lies with the EFL - no one can forcé him to sign an extensión. But this is very different, and when we look back at his time with us, this will tarnish our view.
According to this website update from June 1st; https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5e...ons-ahead-of-provisional-june-20th-start-date Charlton will be without Lyle Taylor Chris Solly David Davis when matches resume, as they have all refused to play. The assumption seems to be that all other squad members are willing to play all remaining fixtures, even if those fixtures go beyond the end of their current contract. I don'r currently have news about who is unavailable through injury.
Here's news for Charlton fans with an ST who also know how to use iFollow (whatever that is)... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52940391 Contact the Club and they'll arrange for you to be able to watch Charlton games online, free of charge. This may replace possible partial refunds for ST holders. Fans without ST's can also use iFollow to watch games, at £10 a pop. Note: None of the remaining 108 Championship games will be shown on free-to-air TV.
We know Brentford are a proper Championship team and a well run Club. Charlton cannot claim to be both of those at the same time since season 1999-2000.
I've heard that Lyle Taylor has decided he will play for Charlton again. I'm not sure if that is just until the end of his contract (30th June) or for all remaining fixtures this season. This will be regarded as good news by most supporters, even if much goodwill towards Taylor has now faded. If he can do a job and score some goals maybe relegation can be avoided. Credit to Lee Bowyer if it was our gaffer who talked LT round.
Word is this is fake news and he no longer trains with us. I know you can't fill the fridge on fans goodwill, but I guess there will be no applause for him should he return, having opted to purely look after number one. Sad way to end what was s happy relationship, that says a lot about him.
Yep if he ever returns he’ll get boo’ed off the park, but that’ll probably inspire him to a hat trick
Just seen Marcus Maddison doesn't want to play for Hull this saturday. Imagine if we'd signed him and both he and Taylor had done this. Some players showing themselves in a pretty horrible light just now.
