I think the Visa thing put the tin hat on it, even before that he didn't seem the same.

I think he wanted to establish a dynasty, an unbeatable team akin to Madrid or Barcelona, but other teams wouldn't lie down, especially utd.

Once city entered the fray and could happily outbid Chelsea, he just shrugged his shoulders and thought **** it.

Similar to PSG, I wonder how long their owners will carry on splurging to win a farmers league at a canter but get knocked out of the champions league year on year.

He chucked his teddy when his visa was declined, and immediately pulled the plug on the proposed £1BN stadium project.

His reason for wanting to own a football club, was largely to gain acceptance in the West mate, a haven for a dodgy oligarch and his plundered billions. Once the U.K. Govt refused his visa extension, that plan died, and he’s subsequently moved on to gain an Israeli passport.

This is why I said I'm happy with FSG. It's true, they haven't done everything we might have hoped for - yet - but they're running the club as a solid, sustainable business and not relying on a shedload of outside money.
I think too many people look with envy upon the instant results achieved by billionaire owners and turn a blind eye as to how precarious a position that can be.

To be honest, I've no particular clue on how football clubs are purchased, valued etc.

However looking at city what exactly would happen if the owner suddenly just thought **** it, bored of this and stopped injecting cash.

Trust you to ruin his argument with facts! Behave yourself, this is a football forum and should be kept fact free in order to assist people's standpoint.

@Bumps didn't say it had never happened, just that he couldn't recall an example thereof - so that's also a fact.
    Unless he's lying of course.

I suppose he is technically correct as he was not in the room when the Nunez/Owen deal was done. I apologise profusely, well a little bit anyway. I am 101 you know!!!!

Liverpool have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of Timo Werner after RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann confirmed he could not convince the striker to remain in Germany, per The London Evening Standard.

Do we need him? Yes, we need to replace Lovren, and Matip is injury-prone, but Virgil just needs a capable, fast, strong CB to play alongside, like Gomez, rather than splurging our wad on him. Still think our money - if we have any- should go in midfield, as I'm still not convinced Keita is up to it. Think we should be looking for left back cover, though Nico Williams may be developing at RB. I think in the future Trent will be in that midfield with Curtis Jones, but next season may be too early.

Koulibaly is a top quality CB that would improve any team but I'll be quite pissed if we sign him, it's not an area that's in need of that sort of investment.

Yeah, my point entirely. Virgil was worth the money because we needed him. We don't NEED Koulibaly, though he'd be immense in that defence alongside Virgil. Indeed, in a 3-man CB, Trent and Robbo could just play out-and-out wing-backs, with Hendo and Fab in the middle, and the front three up top. Oh, hang on... :emoticon-0138-think

Can't stand three at the back...

Depends. If they're quick (Virgil, JoGo and Koulaby would be) you can, in essence, play without full backs. It's an option. In fairness, a bit of a luxury one at Koulaby's price.

You'll do well to find a CB that says they like three at the back. The dynamics are completely different

Ask yourself, if you knew Koulibaly was coming to the PL anyway, would you rather have him in your team or have to play against him?

What if getting him so we don't have to play against him meant we'd have to face Werner (just an example) instead?

Plus, we'd only have to face him twice in a league campaign.
